Ford Bronco Refresh Not Being Planned, But 2029 Could Be Big

The sixth-generation Ford Bronco debuted for the 2021 model year, and has received quite a few notable updates in virtually every year since. However, none of those updates are what constitutes a mid-cycle refresh, which is something that a previous report claimed would happen in the first half of 2025. That point in time has come and gone, and with just a few updates in store for the 2026 model year, it’s unclear when we’ll see a proper Ford Bronco refresh. Now, a new report makes it seem as if that won’t be happening at all.

This report – from Automotive News – says that the Ford Bronco will continue to gain new special editions and variants in the coming model years, but makes no mention of a refresh. However, it does note that the rugged SUV is expected to receive a more comprehensive redesign in 2029, which could debut for the 2029 or 2030 model year. It’s a bit unique in a world where most vehicles receive refreshes regularly – every few years, at least – but not terribly surprising given the fact that the Bronco’s main rival, the Jeep Wrangler, isn’t updated that often.

In the meantime, the 2026 Ford Bronco lineup is gaining a few tweaks, including – most notably – the addition of the new 60th Anniversary Package. Based on the Outer Banks trim, it can be spec’d with either the turbocharged 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost engine or the optional twin turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost, along with the Sasquatch Package and standard wheelbase-length running boards.

It rolls on 17-inch Gravity Gray alloy wheels and features an array of Vermillion Red accents, retro styling elements, and can be had in Wimbledon White or Ruby Red. Either way, the special model also comes with a hard-center rear tire cover painted in Wimbledon White with a Vermillion Red Bronco logo. That anniversary package also includes new A-pillar mounted grab handles, which will be offered as an option across the rest of the 2026 Ford Bronco lineup, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  2. Plenty of 2024 leftovers around me. Farley’s master plan to price gouge and try to spin the BRONCO name on things like the “Sport” worked beautiful for about 16 mos.
