Ford Transit Custom Nugget High Roof Revealed

The all-new 2024 Ford Transit Custom Nugget debuted back in August 2023 as the latest version of the popular camper van, and just this past January, that lineup expanded yet again with the debut of the a new long-wheelbase model. However, with more and more folks looking to get out in the wilderness and use their vans as mobile living spaces that don’t take up too much room on the road, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that the Ford Transit Custom Nugget lineup has expanded yet again.

This latest new Transit Custom Nugget model is a high-roof variant, designed to appeal to year-round campers. It features a fixed high-roof that extends sleeping and storage space while also being completely winter-proof, making it perfect for those snowy mountain regions, in addition to the typical summer road trips. This new model just made its debut at the 2025 Caravan Salon in Germany, but Ford didn’t provide any additional details about it yet – and only gave us one single picture of the taller van, too.

Regardless, this is just the latest expansion of the Ford Transit Custom Nugget lineup, which has already included a handful of new variants including the Active and its more SUV-like styling, while also adding a plug-in hybrid powertrain option as well. As for the long wheelbase model, it comes with the PHEV powertrain, all-wheel drive, and a permanently integrated toilet. The long-wheelbase model is between 5.05-5.45 meters (16.5-17.9 feet) long, providing much more interior space than the standard model.

Ford took advantage of that extra space by adding more storage in the kitchen area with three additional drawers, a larger wardrobe, and the aforementioned fixed-place commode. The new Ford Transit Custom Nugget Active LWB model also utilizes a solar power system with a panel on the roof, which delivers up to 365 watts of juice and gives owners a fully self-sufficient power supply for 12-volt components in the vehicle. The new model launches as Ford Pro increased its market share in the German camper market by 1.3 percent in 2024 to 13.5 percent.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
