Watch A Ford F-150 Drag Race The Ford Ranger Raptor: Video

There's nothing wrong with some friendly competition among Blue Oval brethren. We've seen YouTubers drag race a trio of Ford Mustang variants to find out which one was fastest. This time, it's a pair of pickups hitting the dragstrip, as Driving Enthusiast pits a 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor against a 2024 Ford F-150 Lariat (both Australian spec) to find out which one has more get-up-and-go.

Brett Davis hosts the matchup, calling it "big brother versus little brother." Though the Ranger Raptor represents that particular model's performance version, it's not all that different in terms of performance when compared to the F-150 Lariat it's being raced against. The Ranger Raptor harnesses the twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6, while the F-150 cradles the twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V6. They weigh about the same, too, meaning they're fairly evenly matched.

Video still of the 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor, which beat the 2024 Ford F-150, but just barely. Both pickups are comparable in terms of size and power.

First up, Davis takes the Ford F-150 to the straight-line strip. They're not on track at the same time - Davis can't be in two vehicles at once, after all - but the video is framed to give the illusion that they are. Both vehicles are measured with a GPS datalogger to provide accurate results.

The first pull reveals that the F-150 is actually quicker than the Ranger Raptor in at least one area, getting from zero to 60 km/h in 2.93 seconds versus 2.96 seconds. However, the eighth-mile run puts the Ford Ranger Raptor ahead of the Ford F-150, resulting in a 9.34-second run versus a 9.4-second result, respectively. On the quarter-mile, the Ranger Raptor pulled off a 14.19 second run, outperforming the F-150's 14.41-second gallop.

"There we go. The results don't get much closer than that, do they?" Davis says after he's but both pickups through their paces. "The Raptor just gets there in the end... as I said, you could sit here all day and get a different result."

However, if he has to choose between the two, Davis says he's going with the Ford Ranger Raptor. At the end of the day, the off-road performance pickup is just that much more fun to drive than its workhorse Ford F-150 Lariat cousin.
