Back in early 2024, Ford CEO Jim Farley made a surprising admission, revealing that the automaker nearly pulled out of Australia in recent years amid some struggles in that particular market. A lot has changed since then, however, and today, Australia is one of Ford’s top-selling markets, and The Blue Oval is posting record sales in that same country these days, too. In fact, some new data shows that Australia was among the top 10 global markets Ford operates in last year.
According to Felipe Munoz of JATO Dynamics, Ford sold 98,497 new vehicles in Australia in 2024, making it the automaker’s seventh-best market. That places Ford Australia behind Italy, where it sold 100,493 vehicles in 2024. The U.S. still ranks first with 1,960,338 units sold in 2024 (a three percent year-over-year increase), while Canada came in second with 260,504 sales (a 16 percent increase), followed by the UK at 222,657 vehicles (a 10 percent decrease), China in fourth-place with 171,479 sales (a six percent year-over-year decrease), and Germany at 156,153 sales (down two percent).
As Ford Authority reported this past June, Australia will continue to serve as the base of Ford Ranger and Everest development for the foreseeable future, despite rumors to the contrary. Such a move makes perfect sense given the success those vehicles have enjoyed as of late, as both represent the automaker’s best-selling models in Australia, not to mention certain other parts of the world.
However, a previously report indicated that Ford Australia sold 100,170 new vehicles last year, which is 14.1 percent or 12,370 more than 2023 – when it posted its best sales result in a decade. Perhaps even more notable is the fact that this is the first time Ford Australia has surpassed the 100k sales mark since 2008, when it moved 104,715 vehicles – 44,536 of which were Falcons. The Ranger dominates Ford Australia’s sales charts with 62,593 units moved in 2024, which accounted for 62.5 percent of the automaker’s overall sales and made it the best-selling model in that country overall for the second consecutive year.
A recall was issued just this past June addressing the problem.
With more than 600 miles of total range.
Premature wear is the culprit, causing vibrations from the front.
Nothing will be built there until 2027, however.
Following two years of ranking below the mean.
It wasn't selling well, and tariffs didn't help, either.

Ford Australia should be part of the global sales when posting on Ford Authority.....Good to see that we finally get a mention.....Ranger 4x4 is #1, Everest is killing it, Mustang is #1 selling sports car and even the Transit is doing well....F150 is doing ok, but Ford need to bring the V8 to Australia, Silverardo #1 and Ram #2 are beating it in sales....
