Ford Bronco Owners May Have Convinced CEO Jim Farley That SUV Needs Pro Power Onboard

As Ford Authority reported last month, Blue Oval CEO Jim Farley recently set out on his now-annual road trip, which took place this time behind the wheel of a Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch SUV. That trip took place across three days on both paved and unpaved roads, and along the way, Farley met with enthusiasts, trail guides, conservation volunteers, and rescue teams to see how customers are using their own off-road-focused vehicles on a regular basis. Turns out, he made one particularly interesting discovery on that journey.

“Customers also shared that they want more power options, not just for the vehicle, but to run their gear at campsites and on job sites,” Farley said. “This trip helped me think hard about what to offer in the U.S. and globally as we balance capability, range, and affordability. I’m so moved by what our Bronco team has accomplished, and I can’t wait for customers to see what we do next!”

Those comments seem to indicate that Ford Bronco owners were asking Farley to add Pro Power Onboard capability to that SUV, which is something that has proven to be quite popular with owners of vehicles that it’s already available in. In fact, following that feature’s debut in the redesigned 2021 Ford F-150, Farley admitted that demand for the then-new PowerBoost model and it’s higher-spec version of Pro Power Onboard caught the automaker by surprise.

Pro Power Onboard has since gone on to debut in various other models in the Blue Oval lineup, including the Ford Super Duty as part of its most recent redesign for the 2023 model year, which makes sense given that model’s popularity with contractors and folks that appreciate portable power on the go. That same feature has also long been rumored to be heading to other models in the lineup – including, potentially, the Ford Maverick – so adding it to the Ford Bronco would make a lot of sense, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
