The S650 generation 2024 Ford Mustang has been on sale in Brazil and Argentina for a while now, but only in GT Performance guise, which pairs unique elements with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine and either the 10-speed automatic transmission or the six-speed manual – though the latter of which was only offered in limited quantities. With the new pony car proving to be quite popular in South America, we learned that the range-topping Ford Mustang Dark Horse would be joining the lineup there this past July, and now, that’s precisely what has happened.
Pre-sales for the Ford Mustang Dark Horse are already open in South America, giving customers the chance to bring home an even more potent pony car. As one might imagine, it’s essentially identical to its North American counterpart, sporting the same exterior and interior touches, as well as a more potent version of the Coyote V8, though it’s mated exclusively to the 10-speed automatic gearbox, however.
Upgrades over the Mustang GT also include a Torsen rear differential, beefed-up cooling system, the MagneRide active suspension system with its own unique calibration, an active exhaust system, Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers up front and four in the rear, and unique matte black wheels wrapped with Pirelli P-Zero tires measuring 255/40R19 up front and 275/40 R19 in the rear.
South American customers looking to purchase a new Ford Mustang Dark Horse can do so now via the aforementioned pre-sale, with deliveries expected to commence in mid-September. They can choose between one of six exterior colors – Torres Gray, Asturias Black, Arctic White, Arizona Red, Estoril Blue, and Algarve Blue. – with the range-topping pony car carrying a starting price tag of R$649,000 ($119,205 USD).
“The Mustang Dark Horse has 15 hp more power than the Mustang GT, which is already a phenomenal car. But what it delivers in terms of performance goes far beyond this number,” says Dennis Rossini, Ford’s Marketing Manager. “His driving dynamics are remarkable, of the same level as super sports cars, and you don’t have to be a pilot to notice. He brings technological solutions that Ford has developed in decades of experience in competitions.”
