2026 Ford Mustang RTR Package Debuts With GT, Dark Horse Upgrades

Following its redesign for the 2024 model year, the Ford Mustang enters 2026 with a few updates, including the typical color option changes and the debut of the new, Fox Body-inspired FX Package. However, way back in January, something else was also teased – the all-new 2026 Ford Mustang RTR – which we waited around to see fully revealed for quite some time. Earlier this month, we learned that the 2026 Ford Mustang RTR would in fact make its debut today at Race Service in Los Angeles, California, and now, we’re getting all of the pertinent details one needs to know about the new package.

Notably, the 2026 Ford Mustang RTR will be built alongside the regular pony car at the Flat Rock Assembly plant in Michigan, unlike previous (and current) models from the third-party company. On the outside, it certainly looks different thanks to things like the front fascia from the Mustang GT, an RTR front grille with illuminated nostrils, a Tarnished Dark anodized pony emblem and mirror caps, RTR fender badges, an RTR decklid, and additional Tarnished Dark accents including the hood, rocker, and rear quarter graphics, plus the GT Performance Pack rear spoiler.

As for the wheels, those are also finished in Tarnished Dark, measuring in at 19×9.5 inches with a 30mm offset. Customers can choose from exterior colors already present in the 2026 pony car lineup, or a new/old hue – Avalanche Gray. Those that want an even more distinctive look can go for the optional Hyper Lime Exterior Package, which replaces the black Brembo brake calipers with ones finished in that bright hue, along with Hyper Lime elements in the exterior graphics.

Inside the cabin, the 2026 Ford Mustang RTR package adds more Hyper Lime accents in the form of dash, center console, and door pocket stitching, along with the drift brake lever – though customers can also opt to exclude that feature as a no-cost option. Otherwise, the package adds illuminated RTR door sill plates, RTR-specific graphics for the vehicle’s display screens, and a serialized dash plaque.

In terms of mechanicals, the 2026 Ford Mustang RTR comes with the turbocharged 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost engine, which in this case receives no power upgrade over stock, but it does come with the active-valve performance exhaust as standard, along with the Electronic Drift Brake feature, and RTR’s anti-lag system that sharpens throttle response. Braking duties are handled by Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, and the package also gets the same rear subframe and front and rear sway bars as the Dark Horse. Finally, the RTR receives a unique Track mode stability control tune, an optimized steering gear with increased travel, and a new tune for the optional MagneRide dampers.

The 2026 Ford Mustang RTR package is available in Fastback guise only, in base form with the High Package or in EcoBoost Premium form. Deliveries of the newest pony car are currently slated to begin in the summer of 2026, though pricing hasn’t been revealed yet.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
