Lincoln 4.6L InTech Engine

The Lincoln 4.6L InTech engine is a naturally aspirated V8 from Ford Motor Company used to power select Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, including the Lincoln Mark VIII and Continental.

The InTech V8 is also a part of the Ford Modular family. It shares its aluminum-block architecture with the V8 that powered the SN95-generation SVT Cobra, and features a dual overhead cam (DOHC) design with four valves per cylinder. One key difference between the InTech and other modular 4.6L V8s is the block itself, which was cast by an Italian company called Teksid. The specialized manufacturing is said to have made the block significantly stronger than its counterparts.

Production

The Lincoln 4.6L InTech V8 engine was assembled at either the Romeo or Windsor engine assembly plants. A key difference between it and other modular V8s, however, is the fact that the aluminum blocks were cast in Italy and are said to be significantly stronger.

Engine Family

The 4.6L InTech V8 is part of the Ford Modular engine family – a series of V8 gasoline engines used in various vehicles. However, the 32-valve InTech V8 was exclusive to Lincoln and Mercury models, and was never utilized by any Ford models. That said, it is very similar to the V8 engine that powered the SN95-generation SVT Cobra.

Variant

The 4.6L InTech V8 engine is a variant of the 4.6L modular V8 engine used in many Ford trucks, vans, and SUVs.

Successor

The 4.6L Triton V8 engine is succeeded by the 5.0 Coyote V8.
