Roush Performance’s frighteningly-potent 2017 Stage 3 Ford Mustang is now available to order, with 670 warrantied, American-built horsepower on-tap from its supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine.
Like the 2015 and 2016 model years before it, the 2017 RS3 Mustang is built on the factory Ford Mustang GT, with engine output bolstered by a 2.3-liter TVS (Twin-Vortices Series) supercharger. The supercharger was developed in-conjunction with Ford Performance, and it lends the car an amazing 575 lb-ft peak torque, delivering plenty more get-up-and-go than the 400 lb-ft figure achieved by the stock car.
Also unique to the RS3 Ford Mustang is a standard suspension upgrade to one-way adjustable coilovers. An optional “TrakPak” sees those coilovers swapped out for a set of 3-way adjustable units, custom-tuned specifically for the Roush Stage 3 Ford Mustang by World Challenge driver Jack Roush Jr. The car’s R7 front fascia kit grants it an aggressive presence with increased aerodynamic downforce and improved heat-extraction, while a plethora of iconic Roush decals are available with custom color combinations.
The 2017 RS3 Ford Mustang rides on 20-inch Quicksilver wheels with Cooper high-performance tires, and offers Roush’s “Active Exhaust” system, with quad-tips and an electronically-controlled pair of valves that can open or shut to alter the pony car’s exhaust noise level. The system can even interface with a mobile app that allows the user to program a Custom setting, in which the valve angle can be mapped to the engine speed and throttle position.
“The 2017 Roush Stage 3 Mustang is a direct reflection of our culture at Roush Performance,” said Roush Vice President of Products Justin Schroeder. “Our people are passionate about creating the high-performance lifestyle. We live it, and want to enable our customers to live it as well.”
Pricing starts at $19,500 on top of the cost of the donor Mustang GT.
