Ford Brand U.S. Sales Increase 9.1 Percent To 213,446 Units In September 2017

FoMoCo’s Ford brand reported 213,446 new vehicle deliveries in September 2017 in the United States, an increase of 9.1 percent compared to September 2016.

Sales on an individual model basis were as follows:

  • Ford C-Max sales increased 5.25 percent to 1,503 units
  • Ford E-Series sales increased 18.09 percent to 4,810 units
  • Ford Edge sales increased 11.18 percent to 11,476 units
  • Ford Escape sales increased 2.03 percent to 25,575 units
  • Ford Expedition sales decreased 52.79 percent to 2,848 units
  • Ford Explorer sales increased 13.39 percent to 18,898 units; retail sales increased 14.9 percent for its best September retail sales performance in 13 years
    • The growth came from across the country, with the East region gaining 9.1 percent, the Great Lakes region gaining 11.6 percent, Southeast gaining 25 percent, Central gaining 28.7 percent, and West gaining 7.5 percent
  • Ford F-Series sales increased 21.37 percent to 82,302 units
    • F-Series sales surpassed the 80,000 units mark in September only two other times in the model’s history
    • Overall F-Series Average Transaction prices (ATPs) increased $2,300 versus last year due to strong demand for high series trucks
    • Demand was robust for Super Duty, with high series Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trucks making up 52 percent of retail sales
    • This winter, the F-Series Super Duty will introduce a Limited edition model – the highest trim level in the lineup. High series Super Duty trucks including Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum have consistently represented more than 50 percent of the model’s retail sales gains in 2017.
  • Ford Fiesta sales decreased 11.82 percent to 3,730 units
  • Ford Flex sales increased 6.46 percent to 1,697 units
  • Ford Focus sales increased 5.3 percent to 11,751 units; retail sales increased 8.3 percent supported by Focus ST and RS. This is the third consecutive month of sales gains for the Focus.
  • Ford Fusion sales increased 3.32 percent to 21,253 units
  • Ford GT sales totaled 7 units
  • Ford Heavy Trucks sales decreased 39.68 percent to 605 units
  • Ford Mustang sales decreased 9.05 percent to 5,847 units
  • Ford Police Interceptor Sedan sales decreased 24.17 percent to 571 units
  • Ford Police Interceptor Utility sales decreased 6.86 percent to 2,309 units
  • Ford Taurus sales decreased 6.58 percent to 2,356 units
  • Ford Transit sales increased 25.44 percent to 13,546 units, its best September since its introduction in 2014
  • Ford Transit Connect sales decreased 12.97 percent to 2,362 units
  • Ford brand SUVs gained 8.8 percent at retail last month, their best retail performance since 2003. The Escape, Edge and Explorer all posted retail gains.

In the first nine months of 2017, U.S. Ford brand deliveries decreased 3 percent to 1,850,737 units.
