As mid-cycle vehicle updates go, the revamped, 2018 Ford Mustang is a comparatively large leap forward from the outgoing 2017 model – especially in GT trim, which benefits from an improved 5.0-liter Coyote V8 rocking dual-injection and a raised, 12.0:1 compression ratio. The aerodynamics have been improved, too, and automatic-equipped models get the new Ford/GM 10-speed transmission, leading to an appreciable bump in fuel economy.
The 2018 Ford Mustang features plenty of other new goodies beside, including an available 12-inch digital instrument cluster, optional MagneRide magnetorheological dampers, and a plethora of customization options, including twelve different wheel styles. Point being: while the refreshed pony car is still based on the familiar S550 chassis that debuted for the 2015 model year, Ford went above-and-beyond the usual protocol of the mid-cycle update, building a Mustang that’s truly and meaningfully new-and-improved.
In a recent video, our friends at CJ Pony Parts explored what they feel are the “Top 5 Reasons to Buy” a 2018 Ford Mustang, citing features like the 10-speed automatic transmission, the 12-inch digital gauge cluster, and the GT’s dual-injected 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which now makes 460 peak horsepower – a 25-horsepower improvement over the 2017 GT.
They make a compelling argument.
