Ford Motor Company Korea sales fell drastically in August, delivering the worst monthly sales performance thus far in 2019 as well as the lowest monthly sales figure recorded over the past few years. The decline seen in August accentuates the negative trend that FoMoCo has suffered in each of the first eight months of 2019, further impacting the 25 percent decline in year-to-date sales.
Sales of the Ford brand declined drastically in August, with sales volume impacted the most by the significant decrease in Ford Explorer sales, which has been the automaker’s best selling model in South Korea. The decline in Explorer deliveries is likely the result of a significant reduction in supply, as The Blue Oval launches the all-new model for the 2020 model year.
The turn of events means that Lincoln outsold the Ford brand in August, a rather unprecedented turn of events that has not occurred in any other market, at least in recent history.
A final observation is that sales of all Ford Motor Company models offered in South Korea fell last month, with the exception of the Lincoln Nautilus, which is a recent addition to Linc’s lineup in the country that went on sale in May to replace the Lincoln MKX.
