Ford Motor Company has filed a patent for an a personalized interactive music system that may be used in future Ford vehicles, Ford Authority has learned.

The patent was filed on July 7th, 2023, published on January 9th, 2025, and assigned serial number 0013422.

The Ford Authority Take

Last August, Ford published a patent for a system that could collect media during road trips, which aims to provide vehicle owners with a little peace of mind by relaying data to them that confirms the vehicle is being used in an appropriate manner – helpful in the event that the vehicle is being rented out to a third party or borrowed by someone else. Now, this newly published patent presents us with an idea for a personalized interactive music system that may be used in future Ford vehicles, too.

In recent years, we’ve watched as the listening experience we enjoy in vehicles has become more and more personalized, generally, through third-party apps such as Spotify that tend to learn what kinds of things we like to listen to while driving around. This patent proposes taking that concept to the next level by accounting for factors such as the estimated travel time of a trip, as well as the behavior of the user, after which the system would produce a suitable playlist for that particular journey.

Even with today’s advanced musical applications, many of us still find ourselves searching for specific songs in a playlist that we want to listen to on our daily drives, which can be a bit cumbersome at times. This particular system would seemingly aim to eliminate that search by giving us a more personalized, curated listening experience, which is rather interesting. Given how much the way we listen to music in vehicles has evolved in recent years, it wouldn’t be surprising to see an idea like this come to life in the near future, either.
