Ford Explorer Among Top 25 Best Selling European EVs In H1 2025

As The Blue Oval’s European EV sales continue to rise with each passing month – largely driven by a big lineup expansion over the same timeframe – the Ford Explorer EV has also become a regular on that region’s list of the top 25 best-selling electric vehicles, too. The Ford Explorer EV ranked 22^nd on that list in February, 19^th in March, 15^th in April, 16^th in May, and 16^th in June as well, meaning that it also landed among the top sellers across the first half of 2025.

According to new data from JATO Dynamics, the Ford Explorer EV sits in 20^th place among all European electric vehicles overall halfway through the year, racking up 18,822 registrations thus far. The perennially best-selling Tesla Model Y is still holding on to the top spot with 68,801 registrations through the first half of the year, with the Volkswagen ID.4 sitting behind it in second with 40,335 units sold. From there, we see more familiar faces, including the Tesla Model 3, Volkswagen ID.7 and ID.3, and the Kia EV3 all ranking near the top of the charts.

Meanwhile, Ford ranked 14^th among all automotive brands with 35,239 new EV registrations across the first six months of the year, a 223 percent increase versus the first half of 2024. In June alone, Ford accumulated 8,222 new EV registrations in Europe, a 304 percent increase and good enough to land The Blue Oval in the 12^th spot overall.

Regardless of powertrain, Ford was the eighth best-selling automaker in Europe across the first half of 2025, racking up 257,337 registrations – six percent more than H1 2024. It fared fare better than the overall new vehicle market in Europe, as registrations dropping 4.4 percent in June to 1,250,868 units, while H1 sales declined by 0.3 percent to 6,844,426 units. Chinese auto brands nearly doubled their market share in Europe year-over-year in H1 2025, however, hitting a new all-time high of  5.1 percent amid a whopping 91 percent sales increase.
