Ford Mustang Dark Horse Officially Heading To South America

Ever since the initial batch of S650 generation Ford Mustang models sold out in rapid fashion in Brazil, we’ve seen the same thing happen with each resulting release in the South American country. It’s quite clear that folks in that part of the world love the Mustang as much as Americans do, and as such, it makes perfect sense that The Blue Oval would want to continue to expand its South American pony car lineup as a result. Now, that’s precisely what’s happening again, as the Ford Mustang Dark Horse will soon join the fray.

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is officially heading to South America, the automaker has announced, and it will be sold not only in Brazil, but also, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Colombia. FoMoCo didn’t provide any details as to what we can expect from the South American version of the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, but it will likely be mostly identical to its American counterpart, with the same sort of exterior styling updates and other tweaks that make it the current range-topping model in the lineup.

Currently, Brazilian customers only have two pony car variants to choose from, which started with the Ford Mustang GT Performance, a model equipped with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission. However, last December, Ford announced that it would be adding a manual gearbox option for just 200 customers, but that version also managed to sell out in record time this past May.

The Brazilian Ford Mustang GT Performance is a bit different than any pony car sold in the U.S. in a number of ways. For starters, it comes equipped with black and red sports stripes that run from the hood to the rear of the car, as well as bronze accents including the wheels, front pony emblem, side 5.0 badging, and the rear GT badge. Inside, one will find Recaro sport seats, plus the B&O 12-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
