As Ford Authority previously reported, The Blue Oval opted to drop the EcoBoost High Performance Package from the 2025 Ford Mustang lineup, a decision that made a bit more sense when we learned that a new Ford Mustang RTR EcoBoost model was in the works. However, even though the Ford Mustang RTR EcoBoost was officially teased early this year, we still haven’t learned many details about the new model – nor is it even listed as part of the 2026 pony car lineup, at least, for now.
If one visits the recently-launched 2026 Mustang landing page, they’ll find the typical EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse models, but that’s it – there’s currently no RTR variant to be found. Of course, that could certainly change in the near future, but at least for now, it’s unclear when the new Ford Mustang RTR might be added to the pony car lineup, nor when it might even make its official debut, months after it was originally teased.
What we do know is that the 2026 Ford Mustang lineup will be treated to a few minor changes, as Ford Authority has covered over the past several weeks. Those tweaks include the addition of two new exterior color options – Adriatic Blue Metallic and Orange Fury Metallic Tricoat, the latter of which is making a comeback after disappearing from the palette for a few years. Both of those hues will be available on EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse trims. Inside the cabin, new seatbelt color options include Orange, Prime Blue, and Black with a red stripe.
Then there’s the arrival of the new, Fox Body-inspired FX Package. Available only on the GT Premium in coupe or convertible guise, the FX Package adds a host of unique retro exterior features such as the aforementioned Adriatic Blue Metallic paint, Oxford White-painted 19-inch wheels (with two different designs), and various other touches featuring the same color – such as the GT badges, a sticker on the rear glass of the coupe, and the grille nostrils on Performance Package-equipped examples, plus plaid-style inserts for the seats, blue stitching, Dark Alley trim (borrowed from the Dark Horse), and a Mustang GT badge on the dash.

Prices still to high!
Good RTR looks like trash. They look like a kid went to pepboys to find things to stick to their car.
Ford just doesn’t want an affordable Ecoboost that can perform 90-95% as well as a GT. Lol
