North American-Market Ford Ranger Tremor: What We Expect

The Ford Ranger Tremor bowed out after the 2023 model year in for North America. It was not part of the next-gen Ranger lineup when it debuted for the 2024 model year, too, meaning there's still a Tremor-sized hole in the midsize pickup's range. That said, we fully expect the Ranger Tremor to rejoin the North American lineup in the future. Below, Ford Authority outlines what to expect from the off-road-focused model.

2024 Ford Ranger Tremor for Australia

Positioning

We expect that the Ford Ranger Tremor will be positioned as the most off-road-oriented model in the lineup that's just shy of the Ranger Raptor. That means it will slot in between models outfitted with the Ranger FX4 Package - which is offered on XLT and Lariat - and the Ranger Raptor.

Exterior

As with any model from the Tremor bloodline, we expect the Ford Ranger Tremor to sport some exclusive exterior accents and off-road-ready goodies. This will include a signature front grille with auxiliary lights within the primary headlights, while a steel bash plate will provide underbody protection. The rig will ride on a set of black 17-inch alloy wheels. The Australian-market Ranger Tremor wraps those black wheels in General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires, and it's likely that the North American version will get that same tire.

International-market models feature an extended sports bar on the bed, but we don't expect this feature to make its way to the North American-spec variant. Ford might, however, offer it as an accessory.

Interior

We don't expect the interior of the Ford Ranger Tremor to deviate too far from that of the "regular" Ranger, though it will feature some unique distinctions.

These include as Tremor-branded seats with unique stitching. Drivers will have access to a variety of drive modes and tech features like Rock Crawl Drive Mode, Trail Control, and Trail Turn Assist, lending a hand in even the most difficult terrain.

Mechanical

The Ford Ranger Tremor will feature a unique suspension setup, supported by position-sensitive Bilstein dampers with external reservoirs. It'll be fitted with new springs to increase ground clearance. For international markets, this delivers an additional 26 mm (one inch) of ground clearance, improving approach, departure angles and breakover angles.11

Ford Ranger Tremor for European market

In international markets, like Australia, the Ranger Tremor is powered by the twin-turbocharged 2.0L diesel engine, which delivers 150 kW (roughly 201 horsepower) and 500 Nm (369 pound-feet) of torque. That powerhouse meshes with the 10-speed automatic transmission. We don't expect that engine to carry over into the North American model. Instead, the U.S-market Ranger Tremor will source its power from the turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I4, with the twin-turbocharged 2.7L EcoBoost V6 could be offered as an upgrade.

Timing

Ranger sales are currently on the upswing - jumping 118 percent to nearly 33,000 during the first half of 2025 on improved supply of the still-new current generation truck. As such, Ford is in no rush to introduce new variants, since it has its hands full building regular models. Hence, we expect the Ford Ranger Tremor to rejoin the North American Ranger lineup for either the 2026 or 2027 model years.

  • Ranger really needs a full cab update it looks very 90s and needs slightly more headroom. Disappointed the refresh was just on the front end and small changes to the bed.

  • As the article mentions, there is a huge gap between the FX-4 and Raptor. The Tremor was very popular (and profitable for Ford) in the last Gen Ranger and every day it’s not available, Ford is leaving money on the table (including mine). I’d be the first person to order a Tremor Ranger if made available and I’ll gladly take it with the 2.7l under the hood too.

  • "... we expect the Ford Ranger Tremor to rejoin the North American Ranger lineup for either the 2026 or 2027 model years." So with Ford's on-off-on-off product announcements, the Tremor may not happen at all. We anticipate this. Aussie trucks have that. Probably will include... yaddayadda. this is just clickbait. They got me, too.
