Artificial intelligence is dangerous, and gullible internet users can be easily fooled by what appears to be legitimate information. While Google’s AI overview feature served up proper information regarding the 2026 Ford Bronco, unfortunately, the same can’t be said for its thoughts on the 2027 model year SUV. Searching for “2027 Ford Bronco” yields some… interesting results to say the least, and Ford Authority here to tell the truth: whatever the overview says, it’s not happening.
Google’s AI overview spreads 2027 Ford Bronco misinformation right off the bat. The first line says, “2027 Ford Bronco is anticipated to receive a redesign, including the potential addition of a hybrid powertrain option.” That’s simply not true. If anything, the off-road SUV is slated for a refresh, not a redesign. As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2026 Bronco, which doesn’t feature many changes or updates, lays a clear path ahead: the off-road SUV is due for a refresh, and it’ll probably happen in 2027 or later. Simply put, it’s too soon in the lifecycle to go for a full-on redesign.
The overview then goes on to outline the supposed features in line for the fictional 2027 Ford Bronco redesign. It thinks that it’s getting an updated exterior, improved fuel efficiency, and the deletion of several trims, even though The Blue Oval recently, well, trimmed the Bronco’s model line.
However, the overview does get something partially correct. It says that the 2027 Ford Bronco will receive a hybrid powertrain option. It’s not clear if that’s on deck for the 2027 model year, but Ford does intend to offer a hybrid variant across its entire lineup by 2030. Presumably, that would also include the Bronco.
That could mean extended range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain is on the way, which combines a large battery pack and electric motors with a gas generator, the best of both worlds in terms of range and refueling speed. In fact, a brand new Bronco model just debuted for China that offers both EV and EREV options, signifying that something like it could be headed stateside, too.
