A power-adjustable steering column isn’t something drivers use every day, but it’s a convenience feature that’s nice to have on board. However, the 2026 Ford Expedition drops the feature as standard equipment, deleting it from certain trims in the full-size SUV’s lineup.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the 2026 Ford Expedition no longer features the power-adjustable steering column with memory as standard on the XL and Active Select trims. But it’s not gone completely. It’s still included on the higher-tiered trims, including Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch. It can also be had as an upgrade on the Active trim, but only as part of the Active Touring (equipment group 202A) model, included with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 bundle.
Instead, the 2026 Ford Expedition XL and Active Select (equipment group 200A) feature the manual adjusted tilt/telescoping steering column. The power adjustable column cannot be added to these trims at all.
That’s not the only feature being slashed from the 2026 Ford Expedition. The full-size SUV also loses its wireless smartphone charging pad, although devices can still be charged via wired connections available throughout the cabin. That makes the Expedition just the latest vehicle in The Blue Oval’s lineup to ditch the feature -it was dropped from the 2025 Ford Mustang and the 2025 Ford Bronco, both of which no longer offer wireless charging features with any package.
There are some new features headed the way of the 2026 Expedition. It’s gaining the black-painted roof option, bringing a sporty duotone paint scheme to the full-size SUV. The Security Package is also on the way, which includes a number of security features that work in conjunction with the FordPass smartphone app, but it’s important to note that said features require a paid subscription, although The Blue Oval does give one year of complimentary service upon activation. Once that period is up, 2026 Expedition owners interested in continuing the service must pay a monthly fee of $7.99.
Making the act of charging and route planning simpler.
Adding an earthy - but flashy - look to the rugged crossover.
Whatever the case, it does sound pretty good.
Another faithful tribute to a TV famous ride.
