The sixth-generation Ford Bronco has faced a number of supply constraints since its launch, which inevitably forced FoMoCo to push a number of unscheduled orders from the 2021 to 2022 model year. Now, that same phenomenon is plaguing 2022 Ford Maverick production shortly after The Blue Oval stopped taking orders for its new compact pickup. This issue has grown so big, in fact, that sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that some 2022 Ford Maverick orders may get pushed back to the 2023 model year.
Currently, Ford is prioritizing the oldest retail 2022 Maverick orders first, but numerous supply-constrained features have also prompted it to ask dealers to reach out to order holders and discuss the possibility of changing their builds to circumvent these shortages. Customers that opt to stick with supply constrained features will face the potential that their order could be pushed back to the 2023 model year while removing them from an order will likely speed up production on customer orders.
Those features currently include the XLT Luxury Package, Lariat Luxury Package, Co-Pilot360 Package (optional on all trims), the spray-in bedliner (optional on all trims and included in Lariat Luxury Package), Cargo Management System (optional on all trims and included in XLT and Lariat Luxury Packages), bed extender (optional on all trims), bed tray (optional on XL, XLT, and Lariat), and hard trifold tonneau cover (optional on XL, XLT, and Lariat).
The 2022 Ford Maverick – which has racked up numerous awards over the past several months – remains an ultra-hot commodity, as dealer inventory is turning in just four days. Meanwhile, order books for the 2023 model year are scheduled to open this August, as Ford Authority recently reported.
We’ll have much more on the Maverick soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Maverick news and non-stop Ford news coverage.
The ideal urban hauler.
Sales increased 17 percent to 33,371 units during the first eight months of 2025.

What a shame. Ford was looking at record sales for its product line and the supply constraints will inflict damage on this prospect. Sure, every Ford F-150 Lightening, Mustang Mach E, Bronco Sport, Bronco and Maverick produced will be sold within a few days, but an untold number of buyers will be left wanting. How many of those will buy something else rather than wait will hurt. And none of this will be Ford's fault other than its failure to foresee the chip shortage... and it was foreseeable. Apple is now making its own chip (M1) rather than rely on Intel or foreign manufacturers. Sure they are not alone but it is ruining what would have been a record year surpassing other US companies by a wide margin.
I would like to see some type of timetable from Ford that shows probable production dates based on the order date for all vehicles. I ordered a Maverick, and would at least like some idea of when it may be produced. I may need to buy another vehicle in the meantime.
Ford has provided terrible customer service. We were told when we purchased to expect delivery by December 2021 and don’t have a build date. No one will respond to emails including Ford I have sent several we should be given an expected delivery date. This was purchased to be a tow vehicle with a new motorhome now we delay our trip or purchase a different vehicle. We will never buy another Ford.
Amen
I order a maverick in Sept. 2021 and was told to not expect delivery until the spring of 2022. The.ford motors has emailed us twice with updates . Last one give us a building date of March 28th. We do have a good dealership close by.
That would be some nice customer service
Tim, I ordered my maverick in June, delivered Jan. 7 this year. During my wait I found information that priority orders were sent to Brazil and to fleet buyers, superseding some pending orders. These fleet trucks were all base models, easy to build with quick turnover. I was very lucky to get my truck. Existing orders now have not been so fortunate. Seems like ford made a business decision that has hurt you and others.
Agree, Tim, but Ford uses Dealers so communicating on a one-to-one basis is a really new thing for them at least within the situation of telling consumers production dates. So what is happening does not surprise me, but like you I am waiting, for 6 months yesterday, and still no production date. So how do I plan? Lots of us have similar problems.
I placed an order in August 21 for an AWD Maverick in the Lariat trim with the LLP, Co-Pilot 360, Bed Extender, Sunroof, etc....
With no feedback status from Ford nor the Dealership on the protected build date, I will more than likely buy a comparable vehicle.
Ford does this on all new models if they are not prepared to build don't take orders and get people's hope s up l have five ford's in driveway would like to get a build dates on Maverick s
Ford will definitely paid a price for not at least communicating with customers so they knew what was going on, most will buy competitors product!
I beliver all people who ordered a Maverick should be given due date. Will it be a mo th or months? This is my 6th Ford I have ordered, please show me some respect for being a long term customer 🙏
Spruce up that cheap interior. I can wait for the MCE.
I"TS NOT THAT HARD TO SEND AN UPDATED EMAIL ON THE MAVERICK BUILDS .SO COME ON FORD UPDATE US.
I placed my order for the Maverick back in July and have been in communication with my local dealer regarding my build date. They are able to access this information for those who are wondering. The dealer also told me that if, for some reason, I'm not happy with the vehicle when it arrives they would keep it and mark it up $5000 and sell it. I am buying it either way. I will be the one making any profit having to wait this long!
My dealer always has one or two unclaimed builds on the list from customers who long ago gave up on their orders. They are marked 10-12K over MSRP and sell within a week.
Ford has done a terrible job with communication. No one will respond to emails. When we ordered the truck advised it should arrive by December. Ford will be losing many of their customers based on their lack of customer support and service.
