2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid Gets Upfitted For Security Use: Video

The 2022 Ford Maverick has quickly become a favorite not only among retail consumers looking for cheap, utilitarian, and efficient transportation but has also won over business owners and fleet customers alike, for the very same reasons. In the process, the Maverick has attracted more than its fair share of Honda Civic owners and has already garnered a Kelley Blue Book 2022 Best Resale Value Award. As it turns out, the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid – which is rather easy to work on – has accounted for 40 percent of total Maverick sales thus far, and it also makes a pretty good security vehicle, as we can see in this video.

This 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid has received a host of modifications to make it suitable for security patrol work, and it might also just be the very first one converted for that specific type of duty. Inside the cabin, it’s been fitted with a Jotto desk stand to hold a laptop, along with a simple wheel and controller, and a Whelen 8 Position remote module. Our host points out that it’s a very simple setup, but it also appears that everything is in place that needs to be for this type of work, and nothing else.

On the outside, it’s quite clear what this Maverick will be used for, mainly because of the 48-inch Whelen Liberty Amber light bar mounted on the roof and the various decals present on the pickup’s bodywork. Finished in a basic white exterior paint, there are blue stripes down the sides, black steel wheels, and CWPS logos and script.

As the video’s host points out, this may be the first Maverick Hybrid converted for security use, but it likely won’t be the last, due to the fact that it’s “spacious, easy to maintain, and easy to install equipment on.”

  1. If they can build enough of them, which right now, they will never keep up for years unless Ford adds additional capacity.

    1. Ford has the ability to open up new assembly operations and ramp up production on its current lines, on fairly short notice, but it won’t do it based upon novelty purchases at the initial launch. And its not going to do it until the chip shortage and other supply chain constraints are dealt with.

  2. Building less than 5000 total a month with say 1800 being hybrids …… It would be hard for fleet customers to incorporate any large scale adoption

  3. They need to kick the hybrid Maverick production up a whole lot, and soon.

    1. They’re still dealing with chip and other supply chain issues. It will likely remain that way into the 2023-2024 model years.

  4. Ford needs to either expand production of the Maverick to another plant or dedicate the current plant in Mexico to just Mavericks. The hybrid Maverick would make a good police patrol vehicle for inside a major city because of its size, cost, and efficiency. Would also be good for an auto parts delivery and for a small service vehicle.

  5. Still waiting for my Maverick that I ordered in July 2021.

  6. My order was too late. I have searched dealer inventory every week for months. Finally saw one at the Portland Inter Auto Show. I’m ready to buy. Please find a way to increase production. I need a pick up and I hate the Santa Fe.

  7. My hybrid Maverick has finally been shipped and is suppose to arrive at the dealership between April 9 and 15. I looked at the Santa Cruz as well and liked it but I like the Maverick better. If not for the Maverick I would have bought the Santa Cruz. I would like to see other manufacturers step up and offer their own compact trucks.

  8. Keep reading about the new Ford Maverick how great it is. I have placed an order for the Hybrid last July, besides the order acknowledgment, not peep from Ford. I have read three weeks ago that the 2022 production could be pushed back to 2023 due to shortages, supply chain issues. So, let the public know that this fantastic truckles is pretty much UNAVAILABLE at this time, and who knows for how long more. It is not possible to order until August this year.

  9. I order my maverick XLT back in July… got it on the 14th of March this year…. for me it has been well worth the wait… but I wasn’t pressed for a vehicle.. was driving a 2019 escape platinum and the two vehicles handle much the same with the exception of the maverick being a hybrid and getting used to the brakes… hoping everyone receives their order…
