While the all-new international market Ford Ranger was revealed a few months ago, the 2022 Ford Ranger in North America will carry on largely unchanged for the new model year, aside from the introduction of the new Splash Package and Splash Limited Edition models. Regardless, 2022 Ford Ranger shoppers will find two fewer options available moving forward, as sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that the mid-size pickup is dropping its Premium Crossbed Toolbox and Aluminum Crossbed Toolbox (black) for Job #2 of 2022 Ranger production.
Both toolboxes were previously available as a Ford Accessory item on all trims prior to this move, with the Premium Crossbed Toolbox option joining the lineup in 2021, while the Aluminum Crossbed Toolbox retailed for $595. However, both items will no longer be available as the Ranger prepares to change over to an all-new redesigned model.
In the meantime, the 2022 Ford Ranger is receiving a few other changes in addition to these item deletions and the addition of the aforementioned Splash models, which add a bit of 1990s retro flair to the Ranger with exterior color options including Carbonized Gray, Hot Pepper Red Metallic, and Velocity Blue, along with unique interior and exterior enhancements. They include a modest $215 price increase for the entire 2022 Ranger lineup, as Ford Authority reported back in February.
Additionally, the 2022 Ford Ranger will also offer buyers the choice to delete auto stop-start or add a new pixelated graphics package, as Ford Authority exclusively reported back in September. A new red windshield banner is also available through the Ford Performance catalog for those looking to add another splash of color to their current-gen Ranger.
The 2022 Ford Ranger was recently awarded a Top 10 Best Resale Value Award and a Five-Year Cost to Own Award from Kelley Blue Book, while buyers in certain markets can score Bonus Cash and special financing deals on the mid-size pickup.
