Ford Ranger Racks Up 2K Orders In South America In 24 Hours

The global rollout of the next-generation Ford Ranger began last year, but continues to this day, with the all-new mid-size pickup set to launch in the U.S. very soon. As for the South American market, the new Ranger entered production at the Pacheco Assembly plant earlier this month following a remodel and a total investment of $80 million, and the pickup went on sale in Brazil shortly thereafter. Thus far, the next-gen Ford Ranger has proven to be a red hot entity in that part of the world as well, with 2,000 eager buyers lining up to order one in the first 24 hours it was available.

Those 2,000 shoppers hail from both Argentina and Brazil, but until today, sales of the new Ford Ranger were limited to existing Blue Oval customers only. This afternoon, South American Ranger order banks will open up for all customers, which should result in another wave of interest in the redesigned model. In the meantime, customers that have already placed an order can expect to take delivery of their shiny new pickups within 60 days, according to The Blue Oval.

“This exceptional return shows the confidence of our customers in the brand and the product,” said Pedro Tadeu Resende, director of sales and network at Ford. “The owners of Ranger already know the qualities of the pickup and know that in the new generation it got even better, changing the level of the category.”

Initially, all South American Ford Ranger pickups will come equipped with the turbocharged Ford 3.0L V6 Power Stroke diesel, which is coupled with the 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive in XLT or Limited trims. Additional engine options and configurations will follow, but otherwise, customers can choose from a variety of features right now.
