The Ford Crown Victoria was a very popular vehicle for a very long time, at least until the days of old-fashioned body-on-frame, full-size, V8-powered sedans began to come to a sad and unfortunate end. Now, the market is saturated with crossovers, SUVs, and pickups, though we’re starting to see more and more nice Crown Vics pop up at auction – including a 13k-mile 1998 model and a 10k-mile 2005 LX Sport. Now, we have another enticing example to add to that list – this 2000 Ford Crown Victoria that was modified by Roush Performance for the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona, and is now up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.

Sadly, Bondurant – a legendary race car driver with deep ties to Ford who founded that same school back in 1968 – passed away a couple of years ago, and this special machine was purchased from his estate by the selling dealer. The 2000 Ford Crown Victoria is one of just 18 “Cobra Vic” examples built by Roush for the driving school, and it has just 600 (admittedly hard) miles showing on the odometer.

As one can probably tell, the modifications list here is quite long. It includes special graphics and sponsor logos, a custom front fascia, a rear spoiler, a dual exhaust system, silver 17-inch Cobra wheels, 265/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires, beefier anti-roll bars, Eibach lowering springs, Monroe shocks, a roll cage, a Halon fire suppression system, window nets, and four-point racing harnesses.

The biggest attraction lies under the hood, however – the same DOHC Ford 4.6L V8 that was found in the Mustang Cobra of this era, which was originally rated to produce 320 horsepower, along with a fuel cell, a high-capacity radiator and a Cobra R-style oil cooler. That power flows to the rear wheels via a Tremec T45 five-speed manual transmission and a Roush-modified Traction-Lok rear axle with 3.73:1 gears, making for one heck of a fun – not to mention cool and rare – machine with some pretty notable Blue Oval ties.

We’ll have more cool auction finds like this to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Crown Victoria news and ongoing Ford news coverage.
