2024 Ford Edge Among CR’s Most Reliable SUVs Of Summer 2024

Long the apple of Consumer Reports‘ proverbial eye, the Ford Edge continues to earn accolades from that particular organization with each passing month. It may have been discontinued recently, but the Edge remains a solid option for anyone in the market for a mid-size crossover, regardless, and there are still some new models sitting on dealer lots as well – at least, for now. Now, the 2024 Ford Edge has been singled out by Consumer Reports as a great option in its segment once again, too.

The 2024 Ford Edge made the cut on CR‘s most recent list of the most reliable and fuel efficient mid-size SUVs, in fact, all of which scored well in road tests, have average or better predicted reliability ratings, get 21 miles-per-gallon or more, and are recommended by Consumer Reports, meaning that they performed well in a variety of tests and come standard with key safety features such as automatic emergency braking and blind spot warning systems.

On the latest version of this list, the 2024 Ford Edge made the cut with its overall score of 79, which tied it with the Toyota Venza and Subaru Outback for first place among all two-row SUVs. CR called the 2024 Ford Edge a “pleasant, well-rounded SUV,” noting that it provides an upscale experience and a quiet cabin. On top of that, the front seats are comfy and supportive, though the ride quality is a touch on the firm side. The Edge has a predicted reliability score of 68 out of 100, which is also better than average.

Of course, this is just the latest praise being bestowed upon the discontinued Ford Edge. Previously, that model was recognized with a third-place finish in the mid-size SUV segment of J.D. Power’s 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS), while Consumer Reports named it one most reliable and fuel-efficient crossovers/SUVs on the market this past winter, one of the best American vehicles, and a superior alternative to the Chevy Blazer.

We’ll have more on the Edge soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Edge news and continuous Ford news coverage.

    • Yep,

I've owned four Ford Edges since 2016, never had to take back to dealer for anything . Just bought a new 2024 to make sure I had a few more years in this great vehicle. Note: for discloser I'm a Ford retiree.

  • My wife bought a 2024 Edge ST because we heard the the Edge was going away and she loved her 2018 Edge. Loved the '18 and the '24 Edge ST much more fun and Ford Motor Co gave us a ST SUV Experience at Park City UT which was a great adventure learning the new features of the ST in the mountains.
Wish they would not have discontinued the Edge as it is a great mid-size SUV.

  • Perhaps that why Farley is cancelling the "EDGE" he doesn't kNow a good thing when he's got. THE EDGE IS A WINNER MR FARLEY, PAY ATTENTION. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR ONCE WE LOVE THE EDGE!!!!!!!

  • I owned 2 Edges and they were great vehicles. Never an issue. It seems Ford does not know what they are doing. They will no longer have a mid sized 5 passenger SUV. The Explorer which should have been top notch since they went back to a real rear drive based chassis has been ignored. Ford never seems to finish the job. Very disappointing. As a long time Ford owner my current 2020 Explorer ST may be my last Ford after seeing the disappointing 2025 model. Terrible dash design with a stick on huge screen in the middle with no control knobs only touch screen--Really?
