Over the past few months, Ford has gained quite a bit of traction in regard to all-electric vehicle sales in Europe, ranking among the top 25 in February, the entirety of Q1 2025, and April of this year as well. In terms of individual models, the Ford Explorer EV has been working its way up the European sales charts as well, ranking 15th in April among all electric vehicles in that region after recording 3,526 sales. In terms of individual brands, Ford also ranked within the top 10 in terms of sales among its peers across Europe last month, too.
According to new data from JATO Dynamics, For ranked eighth among the top 10 most-registered automakers in Europe in April 2025 after recording 40,458 sales – a four percent increase, year-over-year. Volkswagen Group landed at the top with a significant 294,594 registrations, followed by Stellantis, Renault Group, Hyunda-Kia, BMW Group, Toyota, and Mercedes-Benz, while The Blue Oval managed to beat out Geely Group and SAIC – along with every other automaker that sells vehicles in Europe.
As for overall new vehicle sales in April, a total of 1,078,521 new cars were registered across Europe – a mere 1,399 more than April 2024. Year-to-date, consumers have scooped up 4,467,681 new vehicles, which is only 6,560 more than the same time period in 2024. However, this small amount of growth can be attributed to EVs and PHEVs, which posted sales increases of 28 and 31 percent, respectively.
“While the electric vehicle segment was a bright spot for Europe’s new passenger car market last month, these gains were offset by significant declines among ICE vehicles. EV sales need to grow much faster to have a genuine impact on the wider European car market,” said Felipe Munoz, Global Analyst at JATO Dynamics. “China is not only the world leader in BEVs; its automakers are global leaders in plug-in hybrid vehicles too. To gain traction in Europe, its carmakers have responded to the threat posed by tariffs by focusing on other powertrains, such as plug-in hybrids, to maintain the momentum behind their global expansion plans.”

Half as popular as Hyundai/KIA despite dominating the van segment. 🤦🏻♂️
The van segment is not included in this list. It's only for passenger cars.
Ford is No. 1 in van sales in Europe, that's true.
