Ford F-150 Deliveries Restart In Australia After Stop-Sale

It’s been over two years since the Ford F-150 arrived in Australia, but that launch has been plagued with issues from the very start. Those problems range from a number of recalls to compliance issues to more than one stop-sale being issued for the popular pickup, though we may finally be seeing the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. This past July, a stop-sale was issued for Australian Ford F-150 models over an undisclosed issue, but now, that action has been lifted.

According to CarExpert, the stop-sale on Aussie Ford F-150 pickups has in fact been lifted, and it added that the problem stemmed from a basic lack of parts needed to complete repairs under previously-issued recalls, though no additional details were provided. Over the past few months, this has led to only a small handful of pickups being sold, in general, all of which was existing inventory that had already received these fixes.

Dealers did continue taking orders during that time, however, but now, they’re also looking to move through leftover 2023 inventory, as the refreshed 2024+ pickup hasn’t yet arrived in Australia. These problems began with a collapsing turbo hose on the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost powerplant, and expanded to include a faulty steering intermediate shaft, another recall issued over airbag woes, and a third recall pertaining to non-compliant side direction indicator lamps. To date, seven recalls have been issued for the Aussie F-150 thus far.

Previously, Australian Ford F-150 customers were offered up to $2,500 in compensation or a full refund if they opted not to keep their truck following the lifting of another stop-sale. That action stemmed from simple regulatory problems pertaining to the Australian government, specifically. Those prompted Ford to disable the F-150’s Zone Lighting feature and recalibrate or replace certain lighting features to ensure that it adheres to Australian Design Rules (ADRs).
