Ford Ranger UK’s Most Popular Pickup Of September 2025

It’s no secret that the U.S. is quite fond of trucks, and on the commercial side of that spectrum, it’s also the preferred vessel of choice for many businesses. However, in Europe and the United Kingdom, most commercial customers instead gravitate toward vans, which they find to be more useful for various reasons. In spite of that, the Ford Ranger has long ranked as one of the top choices in terms of light commercial vehicles (LCV) in the UK, and that was once again the case in September 2025.

According to new data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Ford Ranger was the best-selling pickup and third best-selling LCV, overall, across the UK in the month of September after racking up 3,109 registrations. The Ranger had actually fallen off the top 10 list of the best-selling LCVs in that country for a few months, but it has made a comeback, regardless.

As has historically been the case, this list was topped by the Ford Transit Custom, which closed out September 2025 with 7,725 sales, placing it ahead of the second-place Ford Transit and its 4,762 sales. Through the first nine months of the year, the Ford Transit Custom holds a commanding lead with 38,185 sales in the books, followed by the regular Transit (22,842 sales), the Ranger (14,356), and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (10,348). As for the overall UK LCV market, it dropped by 2.1 percent to 47,418 sales in September, though EV vans enjoyed a 41.1 percent increase, claiming 8.9 percent of that market.

“September is one of the busiest months for the new van market so a slight dip in volumes compared with previous strong years is disappointing but unsurprising,” said SMMT Chief Executive Mike Hawes. “The growth in electric van uptake is hugely encouraging, but the market is under pressure to deliver the investment necessary for decarbonization. Manufacturers are delivering a huge choice of models to suit all businesses – now we need better dedicated infrastructure and continuing incentives to drive the switch.”
