In case you missed it, Ford is planning to introduce an all-new, small SUV for off-road adventure seekers, and while the automaker isn’t ready to unveil the full details of the vehicle just yet, the company did release a teaser image on social media showing the darkened profile of the future mini-Bronco.
You can find that above.
Actually, calling it a “mini-Bronco” might not turn out to prove entirely accurate; Ford still hasn’t said whether the new SUV will use body-on-frame construction like the 2020 Ford Bronco, or a more car-like unibody structure. Either way, with this new model, the forthcoming Bronco, and in all likelihood, a North American version of the new Ranger Raptor, Ford is taking aim at claiming the off-roading throne from rivals like Fiat Chrysler’s rugged Jeep brand.
“We’re ready to reclaim out rightful place as the off-road vehicle leader,” Ford President of Global Markets Jim Farley puts it. As he told a room full of reporters in Dearborn today, Ford’s forthcoming small SUV is “purpose-built for getting off the highway and delivers the performance that matches its looks.”
“For Jeep, it’s about rock-crawling in Moab. But our premise is completely different. We want to give people true off-road vehicles that are comfortable at higher speeds, on two-track trails, and do well in deep sand on the beach.” Mr. Farley says the future Bronco and unnamed small SUV won’t “look like doomsday vehicles, or have spartan, government-issued interiors.”
Ford’s forthcoming small off-road SUV is part of a new-product offensive that will see the automaker replacing 75% of its lineup by 2020, and introducing four brand-new truck and SUV nameplates.
In a newly expanded role.

It's reportedly far more efficient than current methods.
The Blue Oval ranked pretty close to the top, too.
It stands out from the pack in one big way.
