Currently, the Ford Expedition comes standard with three-row seating. But Ford Authority has learned that a two-row Ford Expedition is on the way, likely for the 2021 model year. However, this configuration will only be available on the regular Expedition, not the extended-length Expedition Max.
The Expedition is Ford’s largest current utility vehicle, a full-size, body-on-frame SUV with an aluminum-alloy body built on the Ford T3 platform. It is a modified version of the half-ton platform that underpins the Ford F-150, and it utilizes a four-wheel independent suspension system.
The Expedition is also available with selectable automatic full-time four-wheel drive that sends power through a two-speed dual range transfer case to electronic locking rear and center multi-disc differentials.
The Expedition is powered by Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6, which produces 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, and is equipped with The Blue Oval’s 10-speed automatic transmission.
Ford also offers an FX4 model in both regular and extended MAX trim that serves as a dedicated off-road package. That trim offers up a terrain management system, an electronic limited-slip rear differential with 3.73:1 gears, unique 18 inch Magnetic Metallic cast aluminum wheels with 32 inch all-terrain tires, off-road-tuned dampers, a total of seven skid plates, and a turbo sand shield.
As we recently reported, 2021 Expedition order books opened up on September 16th, 2020. Production will begin at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky on November 30th, 2020. The Expedition will continue to be built alongside the Ford F-250-F-550 Super Duty line of trucks, plus the Expedition‘s platform mate, the Lincoln Navigator. As we recently reported, the 2021 Expedition will no longer be available with Ford’s windshield wiper de-icer feature.

Very nice vehicle but wouldn’t it be easier just to have infinite seating configurations? In other words, being able to fold down the third row and move the second row back to give even more rear leg room? Why not offer it on the longer version too?

can't wait to see the facelifted version. I love how Ford hasn't pulled a GM by simply grafting the pickup faces onto the SUVs almost unchanged.
Sure hope it has a roof rail delete as does the '21 Explorer. Roof rails are used by only one subset of people. Those that migrate between Laredo,TX and points north.
By eliminating the third row seating, this will allow Ford to go after the Tahoe Police market. The Explorer PIU is to cramped. Ask how I know ........ ;-)
