With the Ford Maverick‘s much anticipated rebirth as a compact unibody pickup for the 2022 model year, it’s a good bet that we’ll see an off-road variant at some point in the future. In fact, Ford Authority recently reported that a rugged Maverick is being planned. Given the success of the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ranger Raptor, we couldn’t help but wonder what a Maverick Raptor would look like.
Let’s get one thing out of the way before we go on: as of this writing, a Maverick model with that particular name is not in the works at FoMoCo as far as we know. That said, it’s fun to imagine some of the Raptor design details applied to the new truck, so we drew it up.
From a styling standpoint, one of the most prominent, and often imitated, visuals on the Raptor is the bold FORD lettering across the grille, which takes the place of The Blue Oval badge. In that spirit, we made sure to include that detail in our hypothetical Maverick Raptor rendering, complemented by a high-clearance front fascia treatment that integrates a prominent and functional skid plate underneath.
A set of fog lamps and relocated side markers round out the front end, leading to the side of the truck and rugged black plastic fenders, as opposed to the body-colored panels on the standard Ford Maverick.
Another key element in the Raptor formula that we integrated into our rendering is a massive wheel and tire package, made possible by increased ground clearance from taller and more robust off-road suspension. And a Maverick Raptor would almost certainly include special graphics, so we applied some of those to the bed sides of our theoretical truck as well. Below the tailgate, a rear bumper with improved ground clearance helps improve the approach and departure angles needed for serious off-roading.
We dream of our hypothetical Maverick Raptor being powered by the very capable Ford 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine. In the Ford Mustang EcoBoost, the boosted four-pot makes a very healthy 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. That’s a notable improvement over the 250 horses and 277 pound-feet of twist made by the Ford 2.0L EcoBoost I-4, which will serve as the range-topping engine in the current Maverick lineup. A carefully-tuned exhaust system could help the puppy sound mean in the process.
Ford’s 8-speed automatic transmission would do shifting duty, sending power to the ground via a high-performance all-wheel-drive system with various drive and terrain modes.

A Maverick is a compact truck so clearly not oversized. at 30 MPG clearly not inefficient nor ill handling. Life will be happier if you stop spewing hate and learn to respect and accept people.

The majority of customers out there are looking for a four-door model. Regular and half cabs/double cabs are going the way of most other two-door vehicles - lower and lower demand is seeing the elimination of these models.
Since Ford is offering a Maverick Hybrid base for under $20K, I think building a Raptor version of the Maverick would be excellent for those who don't want to spend as much for the F150 or Ranger Raptor. I would stick with the 2.0 to keep the price down, use a solid rear axle or work on beefing up the existing Bronco Sport locking diff.
By all means keep that 2.0! One of Ford's best engines, reliable, long life, powerful, gas and oil-and 100,000s of trouble free miles.....What???? I wonder if anyone actually reads about what is happening with that "powerplant".

Shows how much you are following the news,Ford stock is taking a hit because of the chip supply issues. Ford current lineup is very attractive say for the Escape and EcoSport! There’s simply not enough chips to put in vehicles and that is causing supply shortage. Can’t sell what you don’t have,so sales are taking a hit and in return investors jitters,get it now? First, My comments are in no way related to chip shortages,but if you want to go "there" it's Ford"s OWN shortsighted failure to farm out chip manufacture to a foreign country which infringes on intellectual property an human rights, rather than investing in house or at least a U.S. based firm.
Secondly, the uni body Maverick Ranger is NOT a Ford authority rendering, it's a version of the original Ranger truck but in a unibody design, which I feel is a poor platform for a truck, and it simply resembles the Honda truck, produced many years before.
But primarily, Ford has DRAGGED ITS FEET in producing and releasing the Ranger Rapture IN the States. Here is even an example within this very publication over a year old dated last July... "Next-Gen Ranger Raptor To Use 2.7L EcoBoost V6 And Launch In The U.S". We are always the LAST to get these trick verions of models released elsewhere in the world markets, like my Focus RS example....and it's still not released...not til 23

The render looks great. I think it would appeal to a fair number.
I do think though that Ford missed the mark on naming the current line up of light duty trucks, given the size / proportions. My thoughts: The F-150 should carry on as it's named, the current Ranger should be the F-100 and the Maverick should be the new Ranger.

Where it's made, what type of frame/suspension it has doesn't define that. The Maverick, Ridgeline etc. are all 100% trucks by definition.
