Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2013-2018 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models over a a brake hose issue
The defect: in affected vehicles, the front brake hoses may rupture and leak brake fluid.
The hazards: a brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Components: front brake hoses
Affected vehicles: select 2013-2018 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models produced from February 3rd, 2012, through July 19th, 2017.
Number of vehicles affected: 1,280,726
The fix: dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on April 17th, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23S12.

There was a Customer Satisfaction Program for this, 22N02. Wonder what it took to escalate it to a full on recall.

Like you, I also received a letter some time ago on this issue.
Asked the dealership who said 'unless your brake pedal travels to the floor, don't worry'.
This is all a bit unnerving as a brake hose is pretty basic stuff... losing your brakes is a major problem on so many levels.
