Ford is in the midst of launching seven new all-electric vehicles in Europe by 2024 as it aims to go fully electric in its passenger vehicle lineup by 2030. Two of those models are crossovers built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, with the first – a “sport” style model – set to debut later this month. Ford Authority first spotted this new crossover driving around last month, and since then, The Blue Oval has released two teasers for the upcoming European Ford EV – the latest of which revealed its Ford Mustang Mach-E inspired interior design. Now, yet another teaser has been revealed, giving us an even better look at some of the features present on the new European Ford EV crossover.
Notably, this new teaser shows off the crossover’s rather large Blue Oval badge – with Brilliant White script – which is located up front where a grille would typically reside on an ICE vehicle. We also get a good look at the bottom portion of the bumper, which features a black lower grille, helping to break up the body-color components present around it.
These features – along with the previously-teased interior design – confirm that this new Ford crossover will deviate considerably from the Volkswagen models that it shares a platform with. This is notable because the next-generation Ford Tourneo Connect is essentially just a rebadged VW Caddy, even utilizing that automaker’s engines and simply reaming them to fit the EcoBoost family. Thus, it seems as if the MEB-based European Blue Oval crossovers will deviate a bit further from their VW counterparts in more ways than one.
