These days, more modern vehicles tend to dominate the auction circuit, while classics from the earlier days of the automobiles have somewhat fallen by the wayside. However, we still love a good street rod, and every so often, a cool Blue Oval model from the golden era of the 1930s pops up for sale, tempting us with its curvy lines and unmistakeable charm. That’s certainly true of this custom 1937 Ford roadster, which is going up for grabs at Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming Palm Beach auction.
There isn’t much original equipment here to speak of, however, as even the body of this 1937 Ford roadster was originally a Minotti coupe that’s been heavily modified in every conceivable way. That includes the addition of a one-piece windshield and custom bumpers made from polished stainless steel and a Don’s S&S front grille, while the whole thing is covered in Prowler Yellow PPG paint, with a set of one-off Boyd’s custom wheels supporting it.
Underneath, this classic open-air machine rides on a tube chassis with C5 Corvette suspension components and brakes, along with a RideTech ShockWave air-ride suspension and an AGR Special steering box. Inside the cabin, there are amenities galore as one might imagine, including an Ididit steering column, a Prowler dash, VDO gauges, and reupholstered Lexus seats.
Power for this particular street rod also comes from GM in the form of a polished-up LS6 V8 that churns out 450 horsepower and is mated to a 4L60E gearbox for easy highway cruising – particularly since it’s fueled by a 22-gallon gas tank.
Fresh off features in multiple magazines, this fine machine is now heading to auction seeking a new owner, and given how simple, clean, and stylish it is, we don’t doubt that it will find plenty of interested suitors.
