Following numerous teasers, the all-new, all-electric Ford SuperVan debuted last June as the automaker’s latest EV demonstrator. Since then, Ford has filed to trademark “SuperVan,” taken the ultra-fast hauler to Rally Spain and Germany’s Nurburgring, with a trip to the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb later this month next on its docket. Now, Ford Performance has released a short teaser video showing the Ford SuperVan testing at Pikes Peak ahead of that highly anticipated appearance.
The Ford SuperVan is powered by four electric motors that crank out an astounding 2,000 PS, or around 1,973 horsepower. Flowing through all four wheels, that’s enough to propel the SuperVan from 0-62 miles-per-hour in a staggering two seconds, which is blazingly quick. A 50 kWh liquid-cooled battery feeds those motors, while a bespoke control system helps make it all work as intended.
The SuperVan rides on a purpose-built, track-ready chassis that utilizes components from the production E-Transit Custom and even shares its large SYNC infotainment screen with other models, though this version features some additional functionality, as one might expect, giving the driver real-time data on vehicle performance, along with selectable drive modes – Road, Track, Drag, Drift, and Rally – and regenerative braking and battery data. It also features a steel spaceframe and lightweight composite body panels.
When it rockets up Pikes Peak later this month, the SuperVan will be piloted by three-time Le Mans winner Romain Dumas, who has taken on this same race a total of eight times in the past, making this a perfect pairing of man and machine.
