Ford Edge Among Best Five Year Old Used Cars For The Money

The Ford Edge has long been recognized as a vehicle that provides owners with a lot for their hard-earned money, receiving accolades such as landing on the list of the safest and most reliable used three-year-old vehicles on the market, one of the most reliable three year old vehicles, and one of the least expensive vehicles to maintain by Consumer Reports, as well as one of the best 10-year-old crossovers/SUVs for the money by iSeeCars, too. Now, that list continues to grow, as the Ford Edge has now landed on the list of the best five-year-old used vehicles for the money, also from iSeeCars.

Among the 20 best five-year-old used vehicles for the money, the Ford Edge ranked 12^th with an average sales price of $22,636 and an average remaining lifespan of 125,552 miles – or $1,803 per 10k miles. On average, iSeeCars notes that five-year-old Ford Edge models have around 63.4 percent of that lifespan remaining, too.

To come up with this list, iSeeCars analyzed the prices of more than 1.1 million five- and 10-year-old used vehicles sold between September and December 2023, then compared them to the remaining lifespan of those cars, based on a proprietary model that estimated the probability each vehicle would survive to various mileage thresholds. This data was calculated using odometer readings from over 312 million vehicles.

“With the spike in used vehicle pricing over the past five years, buyers are seeking the best value for their used-car dollars,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “We’ve identified the models with the lowest purchase price and the longest remaining lifespan, providing shoppers with a list of used cars they can purchase and rely on for many years. All of these models retain at least 60 percent of their lifespan, yet they all cost substantially less for each 10,000 miles of remaining lifespan than the average used car. The price of used vehicles remains historically high, but these 20 models represent excellent value.”
