Two-way left turn lanes can be extremely confusing. We get it. But that’s no excuse to almost cause an accident. The driver of one Ford F-150 almost found himself on the wrong end of an illegally passing Honda that apparently had no clue how to treat that two-way lane.
The Honda sedan seems to assume that the middle lane is a second lane for through traffic. Picked up on a dashcam video and posted to the Reddit community r/IdiotsInCars, the Honda is shown traveling through the center lane, which in reality is a turn lane and not for traveling straight through. The Ford F-150, which also mistreats the lane, almost gets into trouble because of it.
It’s not clear why the Honda pulled around the Ford F-150 to begin with. The F-150 did have its turn signal on for a few feet, indicating that its driver was at least somewhat conscientious of their actions. Either way, the Honda ends up directly in the path of that very F-150, which intends to make a left-hand turn across oncoming traffic to get to its destination.
The Ford F-150 doesn’t pull into the left-hand turn lane to make its turn, either. As the Honda speeds down the lane, the F-150 suddenly dives to the left, swerving into the middle lane right in the path of the Honda.
Thankfully, the driver of the F-150 appears to realize their mistake in the nick of time and slams on the brakes, causing the pickup to buck on its suspension. The Honda dives out of the way – into the oncoming lane, which is thankfully empty – and continues on its way, wherever it was headed. The driver of the F-150 regroups and makes their left turn, finally, while the cammer, who was thankfully uninvolved, carries on their drive.
Something similar happened to a Ford Escape trying to make a left turn, which was almost hammered by a Toyota making an illegal pass in oncoming traffic.
Enabling it to gain market share, too.
This is no wagon turned SHO, either.
A simple but potentially useful idea.
Sales increased 6.6 percent to 1,492,905 units during the first eight months of 2025.
It was encouraged by Ford's future EV plans.
