It’s no secret that the 2021 Ram TRX was created specifically to take the light-duty off-road pickup crown from the Ford F-150 Raptor. Ram said so itself when the truck was revealed, and now it appears that the automaker is benchmarking its new creation against the segment leader. Both trucks were spotted side-by-side for the first time somewhere in Detroit, Michigan recently.
These photos are rather revealing in a number of ways. On paper, the 2021 Ram TRX is reportedly larger than the F-150 Raptor, measuring in at 232.9 inches long, 88 inches wide, and 80.9 inches tall, versus 231.9 inches long, 86.3 inches wide, and 78.5 inches tall for the Ford. In these pictures, those size differences are on clear display. A couple of inches may not seem like a lot, but the TRX is visually wider and taller than the Raptor, at least by a little bit.
Things are quite different under the hood, however. The 2021 TRX will be powered by FCA’s supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 producing 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. That’s considerably more than the 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque the current Raptor’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6 provides. FCA says the TRX will do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and the quarter-mile in 12.9, which is quicker than the Raptor’s 5.5 second 0-60 romp and 13.8 second quarter.
However, the TRX’s stay at the top should be short-lived, though it didn’t stop Ram from poking a little fun at the Raptor with a well-placed Easter egg. As Ford Authority exclusively reported last month, the next-gen F-150 Raptor will be getting Ford’s supercharged 5.2L Predator V8 as an option, which will produce between 725 and 750 horsepower in the pickup.
It’s currently unclear whether the all-new, third-generation Ford F-150 Raptor will come to market for the 2021 or 2022 model years. It’s possible that the vehicle will actually launch toward the end of the 2021 model year, but with very limited availability. Regardless, we can confidently say the the battle royale between these two trucks has only just begun.
We’ll have more on the next-gen Raptor and its rival very soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford F-Series news, Ford F-150 news, F-150 Ford Raptor news, and continuous Ford news coverage.
Expanding that lineup yet again.
A way to potentially help avoid obstructions in wet weather.
Increasing a bit compared to the past couple of quarters.
A massive project, but one certainly worth undertaking.
Most companies are transitioning workers back to the office, too.
While the overall market posted a sharp increase in issues.

They look pretty much same to me.
I agree with you sir.
The raptor does 0-60 in 5.1 seconds
If you look online, 0-60 times are all over the map. But I haven't seen a single one that low.
2021 Ram TRX Spotted Sitting Next To Ford F-150 Raptor year?
2021 Ram 1500 TRX, Engine 6.2-liter, supercharged V8, 0-60 mph, 4.5 seconds
2020 Ford F-150 Raptor, 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, 5.1 seconds (est.)
and yet the Raptor 19' or 20' still holds its own. Enough said
TRX!!!
Obviously larger? If you can see an inch difference in that picture, you must have the Terminators eye. The Raptor is the perfect height also. High enough to clear most obstacles but not to high to get into or have a crazy high center of gravity. The power in the Fiat should’ve gone in a lower truck. It’s pretty sketchy in something that high. I’d like to see them in a 10 mile desert race
TRX has a bigger price tag... also has better suspension, more powerful motor, better interior, more technology, and better terrain adaptation. So, if you can afford it, TRX is a better buy... you are gonna be in a strong offroad beast either way!
I don’t no a RAM with a better suspension or technology than FORD Performance aka SVT. The interior looks nice so does F150, for as that TRX 6.2 one already stop running and was trailered back to Headquarters. For the $100k we have yet to see how it terrain I’ll buy the RAPTOR
What ever happened to the real life work truck? Sure, these look good with skinny jeans, lattes, LED lights and dickintheass, but sometimes you just have to drive a real truck built for work and not for show, or...
Buy a Prius and riot with the Democrats, ANTIFA, BLM and other vermin.
You couldn't help being a political ass?
Hell, my 02 Lightning will beat both in an on pavement race. Look at which will go better in the mud or in the rocks....
Lewis is a tard shoe!
How can you say it's a better buy than the Raptor? The TRX needs to be entered in the Baja1000 and finish in the time limit before it can even be considered equal to the Raptor (let alone better). They drove the Raptor 400 miles to the race, finished it in the time limit, and drove it 400 miles back home. Most purpose built custom rigs can't achieve finishing the race. Let's see a TRX drive sideways on a 30° hill or take a jump. That's alot more horsepower for less than a second faster! I wouldn't be afraid to line my 18' gen2 up against one. I already know I'd win on dirt or pavement. Everyone knows Hellcats are only good for roasting tires and always lose because they can't put the power to the ground. So the only thing I see a TRX would be better at is a rolling start race on asphalt. Not at all what any of us buy these trucks for. Dodge should be thanking Ford for doing all the ground work with the gen1 and gen2 Raptors. They're both tested and proven platforms. It sure is amazing that the TRX is 1" longer, 1" taller, ect... but all the numbers that matter are basically a duplicate of the Raptor (ground clearance, suspension travel, water forging). It just looks like Dodge's spin on a Raptor with a Hellcat engine. They couldn't even come up with a unique way to display the 5 marker lights front and back. Ford made it pretty much a styling trademark by putting 3 of the lights in the grill. Copying is the biggest form of flattery. I get a kick out of seeing all different brands of trucks running around with Raptor style lights.
I own a Ford Raptor and my hats off to Dodge for comming out with a new truck. I will wait to see what Ford comes out with before I make any decisions whats a better Truck. One thing a do know I never met a good Dodge.
