Black 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Spotted At Gas Station

The all-new Ford Mustang GTD debuted last August in a bit of a surprising move from the automaker, as this particular model is far more potent – and far more expensive – than arguably any factory-based pony car in history. We say that because we are talking about a Mustang that’s packed with technology borrowed from actual race cars – and even aero that’s banned in some series – coupled with a supercharged 5.2L V8 pumping out more than 800 horsepower, an eight-speed dual-clutch rear transaxle, plus a sky-high $300k price tag, though demand has thus far proven to be surprisingly high. However, while Ford Authority recently rendered the Ford Mustang GTD in a variety of colors, we haven’t seen any variations in the real world – until now, that is.

In this recent Instagram post from formulengarage, we get to check out an all-black 2025 Ford Mustang GTD that’s casually parked at a gas station in Virginia, looking every bit as sinister as one might imagine. However, aside from its gigantic rear wing, people may not have even noticed, given how stealthy it looks. There are some other tell-tale signs, such as the massively wide tires, unique bodywork, and exhaust tips, but otherwise, it’s quite similar to the Dark Horse.

Of course, the Ford Mustang GTD offers up far more than any production pony car ever has in a number of ways aside from its eye-watering price tag. Designed to take on the cream of the European sports car crop, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is based on the track-only GT3, and is aiming to become the fastest road-going pony car ever built.

Ford plans to lap the legendary Nürburgring in less than seven minutes, a goal that seems achievable given not only the car’s extensive use of carbon fiber and aero tricks, coupled with its 800 horsepower output, a near 50:50 weight distribution, and is packing a host of suspension upgrades including a short-long arm front setup, an integral link pushrod and rocker arm rear suspension, and inboard Adaptive Spool Valve shock absorbers and coil springs.

We’ll have more on the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Mustang news and continuous Ford news coverage.
