- 4WD on the Maverick is somewhat of a misnomer, since it does not include a transfer case. Instead, the 4WD system, branded by Ford as “Advanced 4WD, consists of an AWD system with a clutch at the rear axle that enables torque vectoring between the rear wheels in order to improve performance. In the case of the Tremor, the benefit is improved traction in adverse driving conditions. In the Lobo, the benefit is improved cornering performance and reduced understeer.
Fuel Economy
2026 Ford Maverick fuel economy ranges from 42 MPG city, 35 MPG highway and 38 MPG combined for the Hybrid FWD model, to 21 MPG city, 27 MPG highway and 23 MPG combined for the Tremor.
