The refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer gains one new exterior color known as Vapor Blue Metallic, at the cost of two colors that were previously available for the 2024 model year. Specifically, Stone Blue Metallic and Forged Green Metallic are not offered for the 2025 Explorer.
Forged Green Metallic (paint code L9) was offered on all 2024 Explorer trims, including Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, ST, King Ranch and Platinum. The color was first introduced for the 2021 model year as a no-cost option, and was able to be paired with all available interior colorways.
Stone Blue Metallic (paint code C8), meanwhile, was available on the 2024 Explorer XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, ST, King Ranch and Platinum; it was not available on the Base trim. It was first offered on the 2022 Explorer as a $485 option for the crossover.
As for the 2025 Ford Explorer, there are seven exterior color options to choose from. They are as follows (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
Aside from the aforementioned changes to the color lineup, the midcycle update brings quite a few welcome updates to the 2025 Explorer. For its exterior, the front fascia, headlights, and rear tailgate have been updated. Inside, it gains more front-row legroom, along with new features such as new soft touch surfaces, the all-new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system, and a standard 13.2-inch infotainment screen.
Under the hood, the forthcoming Explorer offers two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.3L I4 EcoBoost, which is standard in the Active, Platinum, and ST-Line, while the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 EcoBoost is standard in the ST and optional in the Platinum. As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Explorer is ditching its factory-installed Illuminated Door Entry Keypad for a dealer-installed option, an extra-cost choice.
Production of the 2025 Explorer will continue at the Chicago Assembly plant, and will begin in May. Pricing starts at $38,670 for the new base Active trim, and it’s worth noting that certain trims are actually more affordable than the outgoing 2024 model year.
We’ll have more on the 2025 Ford Explorer soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Explorer news and comprehensive Ford news updates.
The Maverick Lobo is pretty damn quick.
A virtually brand new example of a rare machine.
Does nobody know how to use a two-way turn lane?
The same one that appeared at the LA Auto Show.

Still one of my favorites is Sandstone Met Clearcoat, never been a fan of Green.
What this fails to mention.
1. They removed reverse assist
2. The technology package lost the massage seats.
3. The rear passenger control for heat/air still out.
4. They removed more dash buttons for a system that has issue's.
5. I'm pretty sure the price tag went up for a vehicle that lost options. There's probably more that's missing. I've just overlooked. This is a big failure on ford's part. Their more interested in selling trucks then anything else.
But at least they'll paint the roof black for the cost of a used civic.
