2023 Ford Maverick Production Took Off In May

The Ford Maverick has remained one of the hottest models on the new vehicle market since its launch, and is still in high demand and short supply to this day. With many waiting months or even years to take delivery of their new compact pickup, FoMoCo has been working to ramp up production of the 2023 Ford Maverick. According to the automaker’s most recent sales report, those efforts really paid off in May, as production increased significantly compared to prior months.

Last month, the Hermosillo Assembly plant churned out 11,061 2023 Ford Maverick pickups, which is a whopping 52 percent increase compared to April, when it produced 7,263 units. That’s the most Mavericks Ford has built in a single month thus far this year – beating out March, when 9,649 pickups left the plant – bringing its total production up to 43,810 units through the end of May, too.

The 2023 Ford Maverick wasn’t alone in seeing a large production bump in May, as both the refreshed 2023 Lincoln Corsair and Ford Escape crossovers also enjoyed a 50+ percent increase month-over-month as well. However, those models experienced a software issue in February that prompted a multi-week production shutdown, which can be largely attributed for that spike.

Meanwhile, Maverick production is set to receive a boost next month when Ford adds a third shift at the Hermosillo plant while also hiring 1,100 new direct workers and 5,000 indirect employees. The automaker expects to increase the total capacity at that facility – which also builds the Ford Bronco Sportby 80,000 units annually following its expansion efforts. However, as Ford Authority reported last week, that still may not be enough to satisfy the demand for The Blue Oval’s incredibly popular, affordable, and efficient pickup.

We’ll have more on the state of Maverick production and other FoMoCo models soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for 24/7 Ford news coverage.

  • Is there still a problem with delivering hybrids. . . I ordered as soon as the window for 23's opened and have nothing back from Ford. I asked my dealer and all they said was they are having problems with supply chain for hybrids. .. I missed the 22 window in January and have been waiting for 1 1/2 years.

  • It’s great that they made 11,061 Mavericks in May. But the question I have is how many were Hybrids to fill the preorders and how many were EcoBoost to go to the dealerships. It’s looks like many of us who ordered the Hybrid are going to be out of luck. I don’t plan to reorder a 24 if my 23 can’t be delivered and wait another 6 to 12 months. Ford needs to rethink how they treat their customers.

    • If Hybrids are still supply constrained, would you expect them to cut EcoBoost production just so they don't appear to be favoring making money over not making money?

We can't build "a", only "b". Okay. Cut "b" production so nobody gets offended who wants an "a".

  • its totally b.s. l ordered my 23 maverick n sept. 20th 2022, its now june 2023 wtf. why are dealers getting maveicks aheadof the customers?????. i may go to toyota soon cause ford treats us like crap. not even a good answer when you question them. i really like ford but i dnt know anymore.

      • FYI … I ordered a Rav4 hybrid a couple of weeks ago and the projected delivery is end of June! So I’ll be heading to my Ford dealership to get my $1k back as soon as I get the Toyota (AWD) hybrid. I was sooo keen on the maverick but I need a car and the Toyota is above average…. Pretty close in price for the xle level.

    • Dealers are not receiving Mavericks, unless they are fleet units. No dealers were able to order stock units. I'm not sure where you're getting your information from.

      • Dealers are receiving Mavericks in my area. About 1 hybrid for every 4 gas. 44 available within 100 miles and most are with Blue not Green MSRP’s and a few are fleet Mavericks and mostly all gasoline. Dealers in NH, MA, and NY are charging Price Adjustments but they seem to be lingering on the lots and negotiating the price. 11,000 produced in May and over 1,000 new workers at the Mexico plant next month. I hope the floor plan for the Mavericks eats heavily into the Dealers with the Price Adjustments once the vehicle flow opens up. Soon Toyota and Ram and Subaru (?) and maybe others will have small trucks and customers may remember the Ford Dealers with the Markups and avoid them.

    • My parents just ordered a Toyota. They were told their Prius Prime will be ready in 9-12 months. Have fun lol Old cars are the way to go right now. Paid $5,000 for a clean 2011 Crown Vic.

  • Think I will recieve my 23 maverick xlt with lux pkg by December 2026 but will be a new 23 and 3 yrs old with no miles on it. Should be worth $75,000.00 to a collected. Richard Lamontagne. Still waiting for a 22 maverick I never recieved either

  • I ordered a ford Maverick in September 2022 nothing so far so I bought a Santa Cruz and the ones they get in are marked up 5 to 7 thousand dollars over priced on the maverick

  • Ordered a Maverick Sept. 23, 2021. Received a 2023 Lariat hybrid, fully loaded, no money down, price protected, from Poynter Chevrolet in Seymour, Indiana. A wonderful dealer and the wait was definitely worth it!

  • Ordered an XLT in December of ‘21. Still haven’t seen it. Not much help out of the dealership. Hopefully with production up, I might see my order this year.

  • Well folks, we ordered AND received our 2022 Hybrid Mavrick from Jim Baier in Fort Madison' Iowa. Yeah, was a long wait but definitely worth the wait. (Alan is very helpful) We liked it so well we ordered AND received our 2nd Hybrid Mavrick. 2023 this time from (Yes Jim Baier Fort Madison IA) (Alan is GREAT) WORTH THE WAIT !!!!!!!

  • Check out O'mera Ford in Northglenn CO (11m North of Denver), they have 3 Mavericks available.
I bought my 22'Ranger Supercab 4×4 from this Ford Dealer, a 1st time purchase from this Dealer and I too am out of State (NM). Treated me like a returning customer, excellent customer service 👍.

  • Finally received a VIN. from Ford last week. Supposedly to be built in second week of July. Ordered in September of ‘22 when books opened up. Originally ordered hybrid XLT but changed order in November to EcoBoost gasser to hopefully expedite build timeline as well as sidestep some of the electric problems some of the hybrids have had. Not really expecting to receive vehicle till maybe September’23 at earliest.

    • Roughly the same, but I didn't originally order the Hybrid (they were all taken by the time I got my order in).

XLT, Sept '22, Build Date of July 17, 2023. We'll see.
