2025 Ford Maverick Drops Four Wheels From Lineup

As the popular pickup’s first midcycle refresh, the 2025 Ford Maverick debuts significant updates, including refreshed face, updated interior, and revamped powertrain lineup. Part of those changes include the deletion of four sets of wheels, which have been slashed from the options list for the compact pickup.

The 2025 Ford Maverick no longer offers the 17-inch Machined Face Carbonized Gray Painted wheel, 18-inch Machined Face Bright aluminum wheel, 18-inch Machined Face Black Painted aluminum wheel, or 18-inch Unique Machined Face Ebony aluminum wheel. The 17-inch Carbonized Gray wheels were previously standard on the 2024 Maverick XLT, while the 18-inch Machined Face Bright aluminum wheels were standard on the Maverick Lariat.

The 18-inch Machined Face Black aluminum wheels, meanwhile, were optional on the Lariat trim. Finally, the 18-inch Unique Machined Face Ebony wheels were included as part of the Black Appearance Package, an optional extra for XLT and Lariat trimmed models.

In their place, the 2025 Ford Maverick gains three new wheels, all 19 inches, as reported by Ford Authority. This includes the 19-inch Black Painted aluminum wheel, the 19-inch Turbofan-styled Black Painted aluminum wheel, and the 19-inch aluminum wheel.

In addition to the aforementioned wheel options, the 2025 Ford Maverick drops four exterior colors that were previously available on the pre-refresh model. However, it does regain the hybrid powertrain as standard, while the turbocharged 2.0L I4 EcoBoost engine is optional.

As Ford Authority previously reported, the Maverick Hybrid can now be paired with all-wheel drive in XL, XLT, and Lariat models, a first for these three trims. However, the compact pickup ditched the EcoBoost front-wheel-drive (FWD) variant. It also gains the all-new, sporty, track-focused Lobo variant, a first for the compact pickup, and that means it gets some new optional packages as well.

The 2025 Ford Maverick starts at $26,295, excluding the $1,595 for destination and delivery, making it significantly more expensive than the outgoing model.

  • What are the four Mavericks colors that were dropped for 2025 and what if any replaced them?

  • The “refreshed face” does not look refreshing. Previous model years front face was far superior. Design oversight.

  • I'd like to see the Lobo Turbo-Fan wheels placed on an all terrain tire & made available on the AWD models.

But of course, that will not be an option.

  • why don't we drop all the changes,go back to what the maverick was suppose to be as it was originally offered get rid of all the needless press announcements and bring back the 1995 price we do not need $45,ooo.oo mavericks

  • Yes the 2025 front end is ugly. I own a 2022 Ford Maverick. I have been a Ford man all my life, but I guess I will wait to see what Toyota's new Stout look like ! Why is Ford ruining the looks of a good looking truck ?

  • I was looking for a small pickup that would seat four. I liked the idea of a hybrid, however Ford has now made the hybrid an option, upping the price. Besides changing the styling and the grill, they have dropped AWD. all making the less well equipped Maverick now to start out around $27,000. When it was introduced in the 2022 model year, the hybrid started out around $20,000.My neighbor has a 2025 XL Hybrid, besides having problems with the battery, he says that he doesn't get near the gas milage that he was promised. I have for now, decided to make repairs on my 1995 Ford Ranger, and look around at some other small pickup options.
