Ford Ranger sales were very healthy during Q2 2025, as it was one of three models in the space to post a growth in segment share.
Even so, it was outsold two-to-one by crosstown rival GM when combining deliveries of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. But even the Ranger, added up with the Colorado and Canyon can’t touch the best-selling Toyota Tacoma, which extended its segment lead even further this quarter.
Meanwhile, the all-new Nissan Frontier remains somewhat within striking distance of The Blue Oval’s midsizer, with the Jeep Gladiator next in line.

When trying to understand Ranger sales, we have to consider the elephant in the room – the Ford Maverick compact pickup. It outsold the Ranger more than two and a half to one. It’s not unlikely that Maverick sales are cannibalizing those of the Ranger, and could even be taking sales of other midsize trucks, with it outpacing GM’s midsize duo by nearly 12K units this quarter.
The 2025 Ford Ranger arrives without major changes or updates over the all-new 2024 Ford Ranger, though it does gain an all-new 2.3L EcoBoost I4 engine. Here is what changed compared to 2024 model.
The high-performance Ranger Raptor is powered by the twin-turbocharged Ford 3.0L V6 EcoBoost, rated at 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel, sending power to the wheels via Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, an electronically-controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, and front- and rear-locking differentials.
Notably, the 2025 model gets a dealer installed keyless entry keypad, replacing the factory-installed SecuriCode option like The Blue Oval continues to do across its the board.
It remained with the original owner until earlier this year.
It's one of several new carbon parts for the pony car.

It would help Ranger sales greatly if the dealers actually had trucks on the lot. My local dealer rarely has a Ranger and if they do, it sells quickly. Meanwhile, the Toyota dealer next door has a good inventory of Tacomas.
