Set to receive a refresh for the 2024 model year, production of the outgoing 2023 Ford F-150 continues at both the Dearborn Truck plant and Kansas City Assembly plant, at least for a few more weeks. In that regard, the automaker’s perennially best-selling pickup has held fairly steady – which is notable given production challenges certain other models have faced as a result of ongoing supply chain shortages and the six-week-long UAW strike. That was also true in the month of October, as 2023 Ford F-150 production rose by a solid amount month-over-month, according to the automaker’s most recent sales report.
Last month, the Dearborn Truck plant built a grand total of 26,562 2023 Ford F-150 pickups, which is 744 or 2.7 percent less than September. However, production at the Kansas City Assembly plant rose by a significant margin – going from 24,858 units to 31,679, which is an increase of 6,821 units or 27 percent. This means that overall, 2023 Ford F-150 production grew from 52,164 to 58,241 units – a difference of 6,077 units or 11.6 percent.
Meanwhile, production of the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 is scheduled to begin on December 18th at the Dearborn Truck plant, though as always, that date is subject to change. This also applies to the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning at the nearby Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, but not the Kansas City Assembly plant.
Along with updated exterior styling, the 2024 Ford F-150 gets a few revisions to its trim level lineup, a new badge, the 12-inch infotainment screen as standard equipment, the newly available Pro Access Tailgate as an option, and the previously-standard 3.3L V6 is gone, replaced by the turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost across the lineup. In an effort to boost sales, the 3.5L V6 PowerBoost hybrid is now a no-cost option over the standard, twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost, too.
