Several of The Blue Oval’s models went under the proverbial knife for the 2025 model year, and Ford Authority has sought our readers’ opinion on the updated vehicles. Take the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport, for example, which most of our readers agree is much more attractive than the 2024 model – and the 2025 Ford Maverick, which consumers see as a step in the wrong direction. Today, we’re putting the completely redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition in the hot seat. After checking the temperature of its redesigned platform mate, the 2025 Lincoln Navigator and finding that the new model is turning heads, we want to know: is the new Expedition also better looking than the 2024 model?
The 2025 Ford Expedition broke cover in October, showing off its completely redesigned face and an all-new Tremor trim. Up front, it gets redesigned headlights that are now arranged in a vertical setup, deviating from the 2024 model’s horizontally oriented lamps. The 2025 Expedition’s grille is also larger, bracketed by curved LED lighting accents that hem in the headlights and lead the eye toward its widened grille. The pre-redesign model, meanwhile, features a thinner grille design overall for a narrower expression.
Moving around to the side, the 2025 Ford Expedition retains the pre-redesign model’s prominent styling lines, including the significant crease through the upper portion of the doors. Both the 2024 and 2025 model year SUVs look nearly identical from the side, including the large greenhouse and subtle rear spoiler.
Out back, the 2025 Ford Expedition gets a major upgrade over the 2024 model: the Ford Split Gate. This splits the liftgate into two sections. The upper section lifts like a traditional liftgate, while the lower quarter drops down like a pickup’s tailgate. This also opens the door for the Cargo Tailgate Manager, which turns the tailgate area into a serving table. Neither of these features were present for the 2024 Expedition. Moreover, the 2025 Expedition gets redesigned vertical taillights that extend into the liftgate itself, along with a new applique behind the “Expedition” script.
Inside, the 2025 Expedition gets a completely revamped cockpit with a new 24-inch display that serves as a large instrument cluster. This screen is paired with a 13.2-inch center screen for infotainment duties, compared to the pre-redesign model’s large, vertical, tablet-like infotainment display and digital instrument cluster. The 2025 Expedition also features a new rear seat tablet holder to help keep second-row passengers entertained during long drives, while its new Flex-Powered Console acts as a hidden compartment and provides extra storage.
Production of the 2025 Expedition, which is handled at the Kentucky Truck plant, is scheduled to kick off in early January 2025, as reported by Ford Authority. Pricing starts at $61,700, not including destination freight charges.
Now, with all that in mind, we want to know – is the 2025 Ford Expedition and improvement, or is the 2024 Ford Expedition where it’s at? Let us know by voting in the following poll and join the discussion in the comments section.
An off-road-ready killer rather than sleek and styled.
The perfect way to get to know the high-performance machine.
Enabling remote software updates and downloads.
Still a good looking truck by today's standards.
Yet another wild, one-off creation.

We were hoping for something with a more bold look. We love our high mileage 2017 bought new and have wanted to upgrade to a new one. Just not overly thrilled with the 2025 which to us is more frill than thrill. 2024 just looks and feels better to us. Just our opinion only.
Most people looking to spend in this price range don't really want bold, and it's hard to avoid being in-your-face with going bold in this segment. As it is, the blacked-out section of the hatch reminds me of something you'd see on a much smaller car (VW Up! in particular). Want bold, go smaller (Ford needs a competitor to the Chevy Trax).
We have a 2023 Expedition that has the tall middle screen. It looks like the 2025 has a screen that is horizontal rather than vertical. We don't care for all the controls being controlled in the screen. The screen is slow to respond.
LOVE the new design! We have a 2015 Platinum with 70,000 miles on it..gotten as high as 23 mpg at 75 mph.. Hope this 2025 gets good mileage..so it’s 2025 over the 2024. Oh, mine is Ruby Red. It’s gorgeous in my eye
The 2025 design is more taught and leaner and will be able to take share away from the GM full-sized SUVs.
It offers Blue Cruise on all trims and other nice features that were previously only available on high end models.
Can now get desirable features for less money than in 2024.
Just purchased a 2024 King Ranch.
From the pictures, do not like the horizontal screens, especially the one that takes over the traditional gauge cluster. Seems like it would be right in your face all the time as you are driving.
Also, do not like buying first year model after changes. With all the new technology in the 2025, I would give it a couple of years for Ford to work the bugs out !
Wish they would graft the 2025 Maverick front on it, it would look much better!
You must see the 2025 in person! The steering wheel is out of a Cheech & Chong movie! It is so small. Tiny! The smallest factory steering wheel that I have ever seen, maybe half the size of the 2024. Absolutely comical.
An absolute no way would I buy this! I’m on my 3rd expedition and this is terrible! Everything else looks good all though I hoped for better looks for the Tremor.
We were looking for a new SUV, we already had 2-Expeditions and a 2000 FORD Excursion and kept it 11 years, loved it. Now the new 2025, the exterior have very few colors to. Pic from. No blues, or reds not many at all
Just something else to go wrong with splitting the left gate. Will be keeping my 2003 for a little longer it's paid for a running just fine. Still looks good too.
I like the 2024 grill better the 2025s grill looks cheap the rear treatment gets the same review and I bet there's a lot of glare on the 2025 instrument cluster.
