Since the day it was unveiled and FoMoCo began taking reservations from customers, the Ford Maverick has been one of the hottest new vehicles on the planet. Now, many months later, that hasn’t subsided one bit, with demand far exceeding supply. With a number of 2022 orders being pushed to the 2023 model year, many customers are curious to know – when, exactly, will 2023 Ford Maverick production begin? This topic has been the subject of much speculation over the past several weeks, but sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that 2023 Ford Maverick production is officially underway at the Hermosillo Assembly plant in Mexico.
More specifically, production began for fleet orders – not retail ones – last week, November 23rd, 2022. It’s currently unclear when retail production will begin, though this new date coincides with Ford Authority‘s report from last month, which indicated that 2023 Maverick production would indeed begin on that same exact date following a one week delay.
2023 Ford Maverick order banks were only open for roughly one week due to tremendous demand, as 86,000 new orders were placed for the compact pickup in that short period of time. At the same time, the compact pickup’s biggest conquests are vehicles such as the Honda Civic, CR-V, and Toyota RAV4 – models that it doesn’t compete with directly.
Those in the market for a 2023 Ford Maverick will find a handful of changes have taken place for the new model year, starting with a noticeable price hike across the board, ranging from $1,095 for the XLT and Lariat up to $1,200 for the base XL trim. However, The Blue Oval did make the turbocharged Ford 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost I-4 a no-cost option on all trims, while Lariat EcoBoost models now come standard with all-wheel drive.
2023 Ford Maverick shoppers will also be able to choose from a few new packages, including the Black Appearance Package, as well as the Tremor Off-Road Package and Tremor Off-Road Appearance Package. Additionally, XL-trimmed Mavericks have also gained standard cruise control for 2023, while the XLT Luxury Package has dropped several features that were formerly available, and the Maverick is gaining a depopulated key, as Ford Authority previously reported. However, supply constraints currently affect nearly every option available on the compact pickup.
We’ll have more on the 2023 Ford Maverick soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Maverick news and continuous Ford news coverage.

Any idea how many Fleet orders there are? I'm one of the lucky few that got an order in during the week orders were open, so it's disappointing to see fleet orders are being done before retail orders. Looking forward to updates on when retail production begins.
And remember those of us who have been waiting over a year supposedly are being built before new orders...don't hold your breath LOL!
I think your gloat is only partially true. I have no firm info on this but my understanding is that newer orders with available component sets may be built ahead of older orders where key component(s) are in short supply.
Obviously you don’t let a plant stand idle to avoid producing newer orders that you can while waiting on delivery of parts for older orders that you can’t.
I asked my dealer about why fleet vehicles are built first-he said it makes sense because they are all identical-all white, same wheels, etc...In my mind it also makes sense to work the kinks out!
How about a story on the Hybrid engine in the Maverick
Once upon a time, there was a Maverick with a hybrid engine.
Customers who ordered it had high mpg, low fuel costs, many miles of pleasurable flexible useful operation in mind.
Some had to wait a long, long, time until they received theirs. But once the joy of use joined with the knowledge they were also saving both their pocketbook and the environment they went to bed happy and fulfilled every night.
At the beginning the wait seemed endless, like being the living embodiment of “good things come to those who wait” but afterward, the ride was so transformative they all lived happily ever after.
– The End –
I have an order in for a '22 since last October, that has been pushed back repeatedly. It is now sitting at the week of December 19. Any news on if/when these remaining '22 MY orders will convert over?
I ordered last January no vehicle delivery date yet. Only know it will be a 23’
Like you, I am still waiting word of my order entered December 2021.
Ordered my Lariat Hybrid 11/10/21-they re-ordered as a 2023-my Dealer reached out to me! Same build date-12/19...
Re ordered or converted order to 2023?
Not certain of the correct term, but Dealer did it all for me. I didn;t have to re-sign anything, But received new order number and new vin number...
Hi Pat D, I talked to my sales representative last Sat and my 2022 Hybrid I ordered Oct 2021 will now be converted to a 2023 model with a new VIN. Still no ETA or pricing yet. Lots of questions, few answers.
Ny Lariat went up about $3K with no changes made. Dealer told me that's the new price I have to pay, but that Ford would issue a rebate to me...We.ll see!
I'm going to guess that the process of 'fleet orders' was in the long plan by Ford. I can understand slipping the Nov 14th date but WHY wasn't FOMOCO up front with the schedule? It wouldn't have made any difference to the retail buyers it just frustrates them. I ordered and I get regular communications from my dealer. So tell us FORD how large is the fleet order and am I going to get a 2024 Maverick vs my 2023 order?
Long Plan? Guessing? Demanding?
Sometimes its good to recognize sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Anyone who ordered a 2022 should be ahead of the fleet orders.
And why wouldn’t they be except unless the components for those older vehicles just aren’t available yet?
I, too am disappointed why should fleet orders be giving preference over individual orders? Are they taken before? The other banks are open for individuals? If so, that is also seemingly unfair.
because fleet orders are usually just basic vehicles with no options. It gives the suppliers time to get the fancy stuff for other peoples vehicles.
Good call SEO. Because that’s how it is!
Fords not running a big conspiracy aimed at screwing retail customers (where the higher trim levels and options bring greater marginal profit.)
FWIW: My XLT Hybrid ordered 9/17/22 got email claiming to be scheduled for production week of 11/21/22. Tracking still shows “In Production”.
That sure is encouraging!
That is encouraging! We ordered the 2023 Maverick on 9/23/22 but haven’t got the production email yet. I hope to see it soon. Our dealer contact let us know which add-ons were creating supply chain delays so we avoided those. I hope it helped. I know my hubby really wants his new fancy pants truck and I’m anxious to finally see this “never seen before” purchase! I don’t about ya’ll, but it feels weird buying something you can’t see or test drive. We didn’t have any Mavericks to see locally so we are going on blind faith. Wishing all of us the best of luck! ;-)
I'm a first-time Ford buyer and never have bought a new vehicle but the average price was within my price range the more they push it back in delay the building about 2023 I might just go back to the original feeling of Ford for more reasons then one such a shame that they sold more 23s then they did the 22s but I can't even finish 22 orders really starting to wonder and I'm not going to pay extra cuz it rolls over to the 24th
Let the production bugs get sorted out on the fleet orders 1st. Hopefully retail production will go smoothly. I'll continue to wait for a 23 model.
Seen relative's email from Ford for a customer ordered Tremor with VIN and scheduled build date for week of 12/5/22. Others have posted late Nov. build dates for ordered 23s scheduled.
