Ford’s crossovers topped the list, with the Explorer outselling the rest of its corporate siblings, as it did the previous quarter, with sales nearly flat for 58,465 deliveries, followed by the Escape, up 73 percent to 36,595 units, and the Edge, also up 73 precent, to a close 35,157 units. The Bronco Sport was up six percent for 31,565 deliveries.

Regarding Ford’s SUVs, the midsize Bronco, which includes both the two-door and four-door variants, had the most sales with 24,066 deliveries, though down 26 percent, while the full-size Expedition, which includes the regular-length Expedition and extended-length Expedition Max, moved 21,560 units, with sales up 11 percent.
The Mustang Mach-E posted a sales increase of 77 percent for 9,589 deliveries.
In terms of sales share, the Explorer led with a 27 share to account for over a quarter of all Ford utility sales. The Escape posted a share of 17 percent, the Edge was at 16 percent, and the Bronco Sport was at 15 percent.
The Bronco earned an 11 percent sales share, followed by the Expedition with a 10 percent share, and the Mustang Mach-E with a four percent share.
Ford utility sales during Q1 2024 again saw unibody crossovers outpace the body-on-frame SUVs, save for the lone EV here, while the Bronco was only utility in the red this time around.
Though sales remain strong for the Edge, production ended in late April at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada. However, as previously reported by Ford Authority, the Edge will likely be replaced with an EV in the future, although the timetable for such a change has not yet been revealed.
