Ford Brazil sales decreased 44 percent to 8,129 units in January 2021 compared to January 2020 results. The results place Ford as the eighth best-selling automobile brand in Brazil.
Individual model sales performance was as follows:
MODEL | JAN 2021 / JAN 2020 | JANUARY 2021 | JANUARY 2020 |
---|---|---|---|
ECOSPORT | -29.58% | 1,576 | 2,238 |
FUSION | -90.00% | 1 | 10 |
KA | -58.34% | 4,367 | 10,482 |
MUSTANG | +203.57% | 85 | 28 |
RANGER | +17.65% | 1,926 | 1,637 |
TERRITORY | * | 168 | * |
FORD TOTAL | -43.66% | 8,129 | 14,428 |
Ford Brazil sales experienced a substantial decline in January, far outpacing the 11.7 percent decline in Brazil’s automobile market as well as of other major auto brands. The results deepen FoMoCo’s negative business performance in the market, likely as a consequence of the automaker’s recent announcement to end manufacturing operations in the country.
In fact, it is precisely the models made locally in Brazil that were impacted the most during the month. The significant decline in deliveries of the Ka, typically Ford Brazil’s most popular nameplate, is quite striking. By contrast, Ford’s various imported models achieved significant increases on a year-over-year basis and are performing well.
