The still-new Ford Maverick continues to impress, as the rapid growth in sales volume during the first quarter of 2022 clearly shows. As one of the top 20 fastest-selling new vehicles on the market, FoMoCo’s compact pickup is running red-hot among retail and business customers alike. With demand easily outstripping supply, the Maverick is also one of the most commonly marked-up new vehicles on sale today, while the hybrid model is also among the most considered electrified vehicles.
Ford’s new pickup, which together with the aforementioned Santa Cruz has created the compact pickup segment, is already having a major impact, dominating the nascent space. One of the keys to the Maverick’s success is the large number of Honda Civic owners that the efficient and cost-effective pickup is attracting. Maverick interest and performance are so impressive that the nameplate has already earned “Icon” status internally at Ford.
The biggest problem is how Ford can make more of the Maverick and get these units into the hands of customers and to dealers faster, since buying the pickup is extremely difficult. While rocketing demand is a good problem to have for The Blue Oval, it doesn’t help those customers who have been waiting for their orders and reservations. The situation won’t get much better any time soon, since Ford has punted some 2022 model year orders to 2023.

I ordered a XLT on Aug.27th,2021,and still not scheduled for production
I ordered xlt in June no assembly info yet?rick radford va
I ordered a Lariat on November 15th,2021; I was told delivery by the first week of February 2022, and still not scheduled for production
If you don't have the components, you can't build the vehicle. Its pretty simple. Hopefully, your patience will be rewarded with a great vehicle.
It's good to read that there are a lot of conquest sales from Civic. Ranger numbers are down, I wonder how much the Maverick is hurting Ranger sales?
Probably some but with all the information available online today a lot of potential Ranger buyers are probably aware that a new model is coming and are waiting for that rather than buy the current model that was originally designed for the 2011 model year and not sold here until 2019. And some of those potential Ranger buyers have also bought the new Frontier or the Tacoma rather than wait another year or two for the next Ranger.
I'm one of those people holding off on a Ranger purchase until the new US model is released. I really dig the updates they've revealed so far in the ROW version. I'm also waiting to see what the '23 Canyon and Tacoma's bring to the table powertrain and tech wise. The next year or two is going to be an exciting for the mid-size truck segment.
I love the Maverick but it's just a little too small for what I need. I do think they are neat little vehicles though. If they were more readily available I may have caved and bought one to tide me over.
That would be me ! Mav is a super nice truck however too small for my needs. My wife has a Bronco Sport so I have feel for what the Mav is about. Yeah - holding out for the redesigned Ranger. Which looks awesome BTW. Don’t want to spend the money on what is more or less a 2011 truck.
The Civic Hatchback with a full roof rack was the only other vehicle I would have considered over the hybrid Maverick to replace my ageing Lexus CT 200h. The Maverick and Civic Hatchback are very close competitors in terms of price, equipment, and fuel economy. But that would have meant mulch and yard waste hauling would have continued in our Escape, which is less than ideal. Definitely not disappointed in my choice
I feel ya. I loved my 2017 Escape Platinum, but it always seemed to be just a tad to small for what I wanted to haul. In 2019 I moved to the Explorer Limited. So far its done everything I need. I also own a 2010 F-150 Platinum, but its bigger than what I need for 90% of what I need to do. I like the idea of the Maverick, but will wait until its in full production and readily available without ridiculous markups. I'm figuring 2024 or 2025 model years will be a better time to consider buying.
Well, all midsize truck sales are down, except the redesigned Frontier, which had nowhere to to but up.
The ability to order a 2022 Maverick was shutdown the first month of 2022, so it really doesn't matter how Iconic the Maverick is if they aren't available to purchase...
Because they're only producing the vehicle for one model year?
I ordered a Maverick Ford XLT Ecoboost on Oct. 16, 2021 and still not scheduled for production.
That's not even a little bit surprising.
Why doesn't Ford expand production of the Maverick in other Ford plants because it has all the opportunity of sales along with the ability to build them because they have the parts, the facilities and the employees. Some people may not want to wait 12 months into the future and then some for their Ford Maverick especially if they need one now or in the next few months.
It's more about parts availability than capacity at the factory.
Ford can't build the Mavericks that have already been ordered to to component shortages. Expanding production lines makes absolutely no sense, for the time being. Once the supply chain issues are resolved, they can probably open new production lines in its Hermosillo Mexico plant along side the lines of the current Maverick and Bronco Sport. It already has a new plant in the works for the 2023 model year. I don't know what they plan on building there. This will all be worked out eventually.
Ordered an xlt Ecoboost and no prd date. Even put down 10k hoping that would speed it up, but no luck
In finally got my Maverick hybrid a couple of weeks ago and love it. If the Maverick were not available I might have bought the Santa Fe but I am glad I got my Maverick. I hope other manufacturers offer compact trucks as well. This is a segment of the market that has not been served for years.
How long did it take after ordering?
I didnt order the maverick because I wanted to see it in person ,no body has them to look at ,they had an used xlt on the lot no packages just plain and it was 10,000.00 above above the msrp.
Nobody had one to check out except the one sitting there?
I ordered the 2022 ford Maverick October 7th 2021 hot red. & still have not received it. What is taking so long? Send me an order number. I am waiting!
